I'm addressing the people who are participating in the Trigger Battle.

We have a complaint from one of the contestants. He put "HORSE RACING WIN MARKETS" as the type of markets he needs for his triggers.

We could only interpret that as "UK Horse Racing win markets" and performed testing based on that presumption.

He now claims that because he is from Australia (the fact that was not necessarily known to the tester) he meant "Australian horse racing markets".

I need your opinion on what we should do in this case. The guy has been using MF Pro for quite a long time and it seems like a genuine mistake. Personally I would give him another chance. But it is up to you now, as he will be competing with you.

So do you thing we can discard his previous results and test his triggers in AUS markets?

Oxa,

Personally I would give him another chance but I did not think Aus races got settled in test mode which is why I don't run my triggers all night - would you have to settle these manually ?

I agree with Alfaman and Oxa
The triggers should now be run in the Aussie markets as long as the markets allow for this under the rules.
In cases where there has been a genuine operator error or testing error, it is clear that in the sprit of sportsmanship the triggers should be run again.  Grin

Alfaman, BF winner, I hear you! If no one objects to this by tomorrow's morning, we will reschedule that guy's triggers.

BF winner, I personally do not think this was an operator's error, because it was not clear from the description of the trigger that he wanted to bet in australian markets.

Alfaman, it is true that Australian markets do not get settled automatically in th current version, but in the update we are working on they will be. The new plug-in we've created alows us to settle AUS and NZL markets almost as soon as they've finished, so this shouldn't be a problem (we have another Australian competitor who chose to bet in such markets, and it all went quite smoothly for him).

Personally I don’t have a problem with giving him another try, but while were bending the rules could you test my trigger for one more day? It didn’t fire on the 15th because I set the liability to high. It will most likely finish with negative profit so it’s not a threat to anyone.

I don't really want to be the spoilsport on this question (being the other Aussie in the competition!), but my trigger was also based on Australian races only.

I understand how the "mistake" has occurred, but I can't see any justification for the request. Correct me if I'm wrong (I usually am!) but the only way to restrict your trigger to Oz races only is to add the condition "Market's name contains (AU". It cannot be done through the "Markets" window, which is the point in question here (?).

The problem I have with this request is that it would have HAD to be part of the competitor's original trigger conditions.

The competitor to have his trigger re tested I understand is Paul Fone. He had a total of+98.827,+17.555 and -170.56 to total -54.178   from the three days

He managed to back at £5 a time two horses at odds of over 200.00 that went on to win the races. However there were massive amounts of bets on all three days, so the trigger was very active.

I am perplexed   Undecided at how restricting the triggers to the Aussie markets will make much difference and I was under the impression that the gentleman in question had no triggers being fired like "MARCIN" who had no trades fired from the three days.

However as i said before i have no objection to re testing personally,  however i do sympathise with Bob H view especially since there has already been extensive testing, albeit in UK horse racing not Aussie.

Shall we run the trigger for another three days and if he goes on to win by 1 point we can then have the stewards enquiry of whether the right decision was made to re test later?

Based on your opinions (and ours of course!) we have tested that competitor's triggers based on his new requirements (in AUS races). So he can know the results and check the log files etc., but these results are not included in the competition. We thought it would be a decent compromise.

I will make a summary of all the problems we've encountered during the testing and will emphasise some other interesting aspects of the competition later today.
