Beware when going live !
« on: Fri, 18 June, 2010, 13:26 »
I think MF pro is brilliant and I look forward to making my fortune using it ! In the meantime I believe (but please correct me if I am wrong) that there are two persistant failings with MF pro.

One appears to me placing bets in TEST mode using "Take SP" as a setting - these bets are often placed and can be seen in the action log dut do not appear to get matched in the software so are not in the statement.  I only noticed this when analysing the differences closely between live and test using the same triggers. Obviously if you believe a trigger to be profitable in test you may be dissapointed in live. In the trigger log they are often followed by something like "inappropriate state of market" and "trigger already executed".

Secondly, it appears to be impossible to stop multiple bets going in using LIVE mode under certain circumstances.  I have a strategy that uses repeat bets, cancelling them if not matched and replacing them.  The trigger is protected by AND statements covering "number of unmatched bets = 0" and "number of matched bets = 0" and in the majotity of cases I get one bet or sometime two which is understandable if the timing of the refresh and the update of the list of bets is presumably close,  but then I will get one or two cases a day where there are 10 - 30 bets placed on one selection which just should not happen.  They all sit there unmatched until the price changes and then bang, they all get matched at once.

If anyone has managed to over come these issues, or knows of the reason (or shares my frustration and would like it to be sorted) please feel free to comment.

hi
but if you had
and fitting selections back ummatched is equal or less than 1
you should only have 1 unmatched bet

Alfaman, messages like "Inappropriate state of market" and "Trigger has been already executed" are not in any way connected with the Test Mode, so if they appear there, there must be a reason for that.

As I always advise in these cases, set all your test bets to be delayed by 3-5 sec, this way you will get a more realistic picture. The number of unmatched bets does not change immediately after you place a real bet.

In what circumstances do your "Take SP" test bets not get matched? In what way do you monitor those markets?
Always try your triggers in Test Mode before switching to real money!

Mcbee - exactly thats what I want  (except they are set to matched and unmatched =0) so if a bet is placed don't place another one.

Oxa - delay is set to 1.5 seconds, market refresh 300 (yes three hundred secs) and the trigger is also not more often that 300 secs. so why the repeats ?

I shall sent the log file to support (I had to go onto betfair and delete 122 unmatched bets earlier).

As for 'take SP' it appears to be random but if the price I am looking for is not met, and it is left unmatched (in test) , then it appears not to get taken at SP - but it is hard to know if this is every time.

I  feel sure your support are aware of this bug to do with the process of placing bets at SP in test - am I wrong ?  I shall email a case of this to them as well.

I should add that I am placing bets under £2 - could this have anything to do with it ?
