Matching logic in test mode
« on: Sat, 25 December, 2010, 10:16 »
Hi Oxa!

Can you please give us a brief outline of how matching logic works in test mode?
In http://community.marketfeederpro.com/triggered-betting-10/accuracy-of-getting-matched-in-real-money-bets-v-test-bets you haven't provided us the details  ;).

Recently, Racing Traders released a Training Mode for their Evo software which is quite similar to MFPro's Test Mode. They emulate the queing system of betfair by keeping  track of the traded amounts (see http://racingtraders.co.uk/forum/showpost.php?p=57215&postcount=8). Does matching of bets in MFPro' s test mode work similarly?

I am an honest man and write the truth. Because of this I have been banned from using the Racing Traders site.  Please could you help by "cutting and pasting" any interesting bits you find there ? There will not be many as the number of posters has been greatly reduced there on account of many being banned for similar reasons as me.

It is very unlikely that Evolution, which just over a year ago was barely functioning at all, has a training mode which is as effective as that which MFP has.

You got banned just because of critising their product!?

Anyway, here's the bit you're asking for:

Hi Nick, we dont just take the LTP, we have some heavy code in the Evo Tray Server which acts as your wallet, queuing system and keeps track of everything going on on the market.

Amongst other things which I will post about later we look at the money that is waiting and add you to the end of that queue, and keep track of the traded amounts at that price, you will find it acts very close to the Betfair queue.

There are of-course limitations, for instance we cannot tell if someone in the queue removes their money.

Also there are a number of ways to game the training mode and match silly amounts but this has been designed to give people a feel for what trading is like on Betfair. Or for testing new systems or getting used to the tools.

I would actually need to referece the developers before I post the full features so I am not on air as saying something that isnt right, but we will update will a full guide to Training Mode on launch.

Give me a ping on skype and I will give you a copy if you are happy to post back here whats its like to use?

I just want to update you on this topic: MarketFeeder Pro does not emulate the queue of bets at BetFair. The way our test mode works always guarantees that you see exactly the prices that are currently available at BetFair. With emulating the matching algorithm of the real exchange it would be inevitable that you would see some other prices on the screen, and we think this would most probably cause confusion.
Always try your triggers in Test Mode before switching to real money!
