New software beta testing
« on: Thu, 03 December, 2015, 08:00 »
Hello everybody.

We are going to offer a new BetFair software soon. Then we need some feedback from beta testers. In exchange of answers to our questionnaire we'll give you a free lifetime license for the software (39 GBP value).

The software is a conditional market search tool for BetFair with ability to place simple bets or export the markets list. Available for Windows and Mac (Linux and iOS soon).

Please ask [email protected] if you wish to participate (we don't need your BetFair username, just e-mail).

Thank you.

Hi,

One great use is that I can load my Horsetracker list and find out exactly if, where and when any of my horses are running.

You might want to highlight this functionality, as it is something lots of people would use and it is brilliant to have them all on one page for quick reading.

It was conceived as compatible but as I see it's not. Going to fix asap. Thank you.

Which Horsetracker? May I see a file for example? Thank you.

Tim, as per the example you explained on the website here

newbielink:http://marketlocator.co.uk/use-cases/tipsters.html [nonactive]

Instead of using a tipsters file, just use a .txt file with a list of the horses the users are following on their horse-tracker or notebook or whatever. You can check for runners in tomorrows racing as well. You don't need any other app or website whatsoever. Just do a search and bingo, you have all your horses and their races/prices on one page.  I like it alot!

You could go even further and have Trainers Name as a search option too. People follow trainers in form etc.

One page does it all !!

Hi al

In this 2 days have tested this nice software and all is rolling ok.
of corse there are issues to get out, improvments to add, but in general way all are real good.

I have notice the performance of search engine seems to be very slow when compared with market feeder market locator.
Its is normal or is something wrong on my side.
Its not a complain, is just a fact i wont understand as normal thing or not.

Thanks

Yes, it's slower than MF especially if you add additional parameters to check (scores for example) as it makes number of requests. So it's recommended to filter markets out at least by country (for example do not include Australian markets to avoid requests to the AUS exchange), sport and type to reduce the number of requests (prices, p/l, etc.).

Tim
Will send you some admin feedback by email in the next couple of days.

Related to the above post, what is the reading order of the conditions, top down?
The conditions cannot be re-ordered by drag and drop (but can be deleted and re-written), does the order matter? Just thinking how to make searches more efficient.

Ran this software for the 1st time this morning.
Very good.
Only comment is regarding the layout of the controls.

I think the log in page should be more prominent instead of hidden in amongst the Help section since it is critical to operating the software.

Also, the Actions section should also be more prominent. Had to search for the Actions to Back & Lay before I found it in the drop down list.
Maybe have a betting template that's automatically filled with a selected items Back & Lay Price and user can adjust the price up or down by ticks and has to insert amount much like the manual betting pop up box in MFPro.
If you lose...don't lose the lesson!

Hi
Saving a template with "." in the name e.g. Under2.5
appears to save ok
but name is then truncated to Under2
on opening Under2 there is an error message and log entry:
unable to open file, no such file or directory
then cannot delete Under2, because it tries to delete the last successfully loaded template, and Under2 remains in the dropdown list un-openable and un-deleteable.

edit: I see there is a reference to this in the help, but it is easy for a user to use such characters. Is there any way they can be disallowed when saving the template name?

the location of the files is not clear in the help. on Windows 10 I see settings.ini is in
/users/[user]/AppData/Local/MarketLocator/settings.ini

and I can't see where the template files are?

Search Results > Select dropdown: "Matched the conditions" is intuitive, but not described in the help.

As it's only AND logic the order doesn't matter.
As I said it's more efficient if you add country, market type and sport. Time range will be helpful as well.
