  • Hi, question to Obias-Trader and Richpotter, how can the stop conditon be applied as a percentage of bank, instead of a set figure? - I currently have to go in to the MFP settings everyday and amend the 'stop at' figure for both profit sand loss, but would prefer to have this in my triggers as a % of bank...

    Hope you can help...

  • Hi Demon

ok you would use something like this..

I would suggest setting a variable to the percentage of your bank you wish to win or lose, and use that in the condition set bu Obias-Trader

So, add a 'set user variable' trigger that defines the percentage, e.g. 5% of your bank

    Action set user variable

    Name stopamount

    Value uk_funds*(5/100)

    Markets All Markets

    Status All Markets

    Execute One Time Only

    Selections Favorite

Then use this in the trigger condtion

AND Trigger Expression total_won is less than stopamount

  • It might be worth adding a block to the conditions of the main trigger to ensure that no new bets are placed until the outcome of the previous market is settled.
I had a similar trigger laying certain hoses, dependant on price & field size with a stop at a specified profit.
Often the profit target was reached, but the results weren't confirmed until another bet had been placed, which could then go on to lose.
In conditions add a block, add a condition to that block, then
AND Previous Event's Outcome is settled

  • Hi the reason to stop when in profit is simple. The earlier races are not as competitive as the ones on the racecards later, as I said before dont back either in nov handicap hurdles, sellers, group races or 30000eur plus handicaps. I suggest you stop once you have made a profit for the day, by doing this the system has has 24 continuous winning days so far again yesterday first qualifying race won yet again

Selection Odds Stake(€) Bid type Placed Profit/loss(€)
    Awsaal  6.80 2.59 Back 22-May-10 13:59  15.02
    Beat The Rush  4.30 3.97 Back 22-May-10 13:59  -3.97
    Rawnaq  6.80 2.51 Back 22-May-10 13:59  -2.51

  • Many thanks for the detailed reply Richpotter, I had asked a question before and was advised to use a variable and if I'm honest I don't know how to yet! :-[

I bought this software to perform what I thought was a simple profitable system I had used for some time, which uses 'total_funds*0.005' as the stake in my trigger and therefore it makes sense to have the profit and loss stop set as a % also.

I shall have to look it up and try to incorporate a variable stake as you suggest, I have had very little time to watch the markets and triggers at the moment due to work commitments.

It would have been simpler to have a stop % option in the settings menu, but I've had no replies since I suggested it on the forum!  ???

    Once again thanks...

    Mark.

    Hi there,
If I understand you correctly, you want to stop when the total amount you've won is >= x% of your initial bank.
    Your uk_balance = initial bank + total_won
    So initial bank = uk_balance - total_won
    So total_won as a % of your initial bank = total_won/initial bank ... which is the same as ... total_won/(uk_balance - total_won)
So the stopping trigger should read:
AND Trigger Expression total_won/(uk_balance - total_won) is equal or less than 0.xx

    Note: Enter 0.5 for 50%; 0.035 for 3.5%; 0.15 for 15% etc.

So long as you haven't won 0.xx of your initial bank, the next bet will be submitted.

    Hope that helps

  • Many thanks also Obias-Trader, this seems a simpler option than Richpotter's suggestion, I have three races left tonight to try it out!

Am I right in thinking that the below amended condition can be used for the stop loss ?

AND Trigger Expression total_lost/(uk_balance - total_lost) is equal or greater than 0.xx

  • #23 by Obias-Trader on 27 May 2010
  • Hi there,
There is no such variable as total_lost only total_won which can be positive (if you've won) or negative (if you've lost).

Your initial bank is still (uk_balance - total_won)

Now because, if you've lost,  total_won is negative, total_won/(uk_balance - total_won) will give you a negative number instead so to stop-loss you need to write your 0.xx% as a NEGATIVE figure i.e. -0.5 for 50% lost; -0.035 for 3.5% lost; -0.15 for 15% lost and so on.

AND Trigger Expression total_won/(uk_balance - total_won) is equal or greater than -0.xx

So long as you haven't lost -0.xx of your initial bank, the next bet will be submitted.

    Hope that helps

    Good Luck

  • A huge thank you obias-trader, it has been running all day and the stop win worked perfectly  :) I have now just added the stop loss condition you wrote as well...

My only other niggling problem is a trigger which cancels all bets after 2nd match, sometimes I am only getting a partial match of my stake before the remainder is cancelled, I am trying to get 2 selections matched but only cancel remaining bets when 2 stakes (on different selections) are fully matched.

Do you know if there is a simple way around this?

Please do not spend a lot of time on this, you have helped me enormously already.

Once again many thanks for your kind help,

    Mark

  • Hi all Avalon4 here its nice to see my system is still powering ahead in 32 continuous days it has had only one losing day with minus 4pts. So 28pts level stakes profit using stop at 1pt of profit per day, and on 0ver 80% of occassions it banks profit on first bet. Thanks to all who have helped and contributed with trigger advice etc. If you are patient and not greedy this cannot fail long term.

  • Hi Avalon 4,

pleased you have got this working ok, and good shouts from OT on the stop parts of the trigger.

As a complete horse racing novice, I look at the fast cards and I'm not sure what the GROUP FLAT, 30000PLUS HANDICAPS, SELLERS, NOV HANDICAP HURDLES would be identified as on the name of the race, can you help?

    Rich ;)

  • HI Avalon, ok yes I can open them up at Sporting Life, so I guess, if it doesn't say Seller or Novice Handicap Hurdle or Group Flat in the title then it's ok?

If you could post a couple of screenshots identifying some qualifying and not qualifying races that would be great.

  • hi
all the info is in the betting screen in mfp
    Sell=Seller or Selling
    Nov=Novice
    Hcap=Handicap
so Nov Hcap = Novice Handicap
    etc etc.
