  • Hi All

Just wanted to make sure (if anyone is still doing this) that you avoid having 2 accounts with betfair in your name

I have been running 2 accounts openly for about 5 years. Imagine my surprise when yesterday (with no email or call to warn me),  my account was closed.

This was in the middle of a trading day, which thanks to open positions cost me £100
So be aware that if you run 2 in your name that can switch you off with no WARNING!

Any suggestion as to what can i do with the lifetime licence that i have on the account?

    BW

PS below is the response from my email

    Thank you for your e-mail.

    Apologies for the inconvenience caused.

It would appear that your account has been suspended as it is a duplicate account and as per Betfair's terms and conditions, customers are only allowed one account. If you would like to state which account you would like to keep active, we can close and withdraw the funds, and keep your chosen account active.

If you have any further enquiries, please do not hesitate to contact us again, or check the frequently asked questions on our Help and Learning site http://en.learning.betfair.com/app/home.

  • Hi BW,
Not quite as bad as I first thought upon reading.
All they are doing is ensuring you only use one account. This has been the rule since end of last year. I also have two Betfair accounts but one I haven't used since the announcement on here that only one is allowed. You are querying what to do with a lifetime license, does that mean you have two ?or paying one yearly? or moving away from MFP ?

  • You can sell the lifetime license.

  •  :o I have 4 accounts and had no idea this rule was being applied, I'm only currently using 1 and wonder if I should contact them to cancel the others in case they close my MFP account?  ???

  • Just make sure you remove any funds from the inactive accounts and everything should be OK.  I had 2 inactive accounts closed by Betfair ages ago.

  • Hi BF winner,

Sorry to hear about your account closure.

From my experience, it's a common practice to have one account in one's own name and the other one - in a wife's / GF's name (son's, friend's etc.). I'm not suggesting anything, just sharing the information.

  • Many thanks for the Replies Guys,

i suspect that new evolving rules from betfair will spread ripples throughout the community over the coming years.

I asked them to clarify if was betfair policy to close an account without any communication or advanced warning.....needless to say, they will not reply! (Bless them)

  • I have come to the conclusion Betfair has now perfected a policy of treating their exchange customers with derision.  They act  in a totally superior manner and basically have no inclination to interact with customers.   To close an account with open positions is really inexcusable.  Basically I believe they can't be bothered with the sports exchange anymore and would prefer to peddle their Sportsbook and Casino products.   It is costing them too much to set up an exchange business in new countries only to be forced to close them down after a short time.
