Anybody in South Wales ?
« on: 08 Feb 2010, 22:07 »
Hi !

I have downloaded a free trial of MarketFeederPro. I've only spent 24 hours on reading the manual and it would be infinitely easier for me if I could meet up with another user who could help me see "the wood from the trees". Anybody in South Wales, please ?
I'm reasonably certain that I am going to buy this software but need some help before I do. I'm an experienced trader on virtually every other software available. I don't know anybody else who trades near me and it would be good to meet one.
Any chance, please ?

Hi
I sympathise with you. The possibilities are endless (but like you perhaps) my brain is really stretched to the limit with the amazing features that the program can deliver.
Stick with it read all the trigger examples; try out some of your own and gradually you will start to learn.
I am still in phase 1 and have been doing this every day for three months solid.
The software is brilliant and only limited by the individual’s interpretation and implementation. Stick with the lite version for £7 a month for a couple of months to really get the hang of things before considering going with real money.
I live in southern Spain so if you are ever this way please drop in.  ;)
All the best of luck for now

Hi Nigel,

We are working on a "Getting Started" guide, so this should make newbies' lives easier, but if you need help right now, you can post some questions here on the forum, and I'm sure someone, if not me, will help you out quite readily.

Hello !
Thanks for your offer of help. The manual is very big at over 200 pages. You are used to the software and can probably do all sorts of tricks with it, however, being faced with it for the first time it is very daunting. I had taken your two week free trial in the hope of being able to make at least a part of the software work in that period. This is now looking more and more unlikely to happen.
I really have too many questions to ask. I managed to work out for myself that ready- made triggers could be downloaded and have tried to put them to use but without success. There is a lot in the manual about using blocks,  creating triggers, conditions etc. but there is little in the way of guidance in the use of the software in a simple way. It's rather like telling people how to use a television set by giving details of how to tune the channels, change the picture settings, etc. without telling them where the on/off switch is.
I'll continue to plod on for the remainder of my two week period and see if things fall into place. I asked if there was someone using the software near me so that I could ask them for help. Twenty minutes with someone who could show the basics would be worth more than a week of study of the manual.
I'm reasonably well educated and, although not a youngster, still have some mental agility  :)
A simple guide would surely give rise to a greater number of people buying the software. I can imagine large numbers taking advantage of the trial simply because it is free then "kicking it to touch" because they have failed to understand it and make it work.
I would like to suggest that you provide some working triggers as part of the software. Comparatively simple topics like backing and laying in running with hedging should be covered. Once people can see actual triggers working , they can begin to make their own by studying the technical issues currently dealt with by the manual.
I hope I haven't seemed to much of a "misery guts" by writing this as it is my aim to be constructive. I have been aware of the existence of your software for a couple of years now and have mastered the use of most of the other trading softwares currently available. I was attracted to yours because of the bot features.
Well, back to the manual  ;)

Cheers !

Hi Nigel
Please drop me an email (available next to my postings) with your phone number. I will be happy to go through the basics with you over the phone (if you have a landline).
Having agonised my way through exactly what you are experiencing, I know that 10 minutes over the phone can get you up and running no problem.  :o

All the best for now Andy

Thanks, Andy, very kind of you. I'll send you a separate email giving you my number. I have received some help already. I had dowloaded triggers and opened them. Trouble is that I neglected to save them and so they didn't work. I'm going to work at this first and I'll see where I am then before asking for more help.I have your address and will send email soon. I have a landline but will not be available this evening,  but I'm usually here most nights drinking red wine as I watch the football :)

Cheers

Nigel

Thanks to help received from members I have discovered that I failed to appreciate the importance of three lines of text :

Press "Save Triggers" to save your first trigger and make it ready for work. Do it every time you make any
changes to existing triggers or add new ones."

There are probably over 6000 lines of text in the manual, some are of great importance. Thanks to Andy and alfaman for your help. Things are beginning to make sense.

Thanks. I actually found these before I took the trial. Everything revolves around my failure to save the trigger after opening it so it didn't work. I am busy for a couple of days but hope to get it going properly this weekend. Again, thank you for your help.

Hello !

It's me again. I asked for help and received it. Unfortunately, family illness caused me to give up my trial of MFP. IFortunately, my wife is now well again. I returned and wrote to support explaining that I believed the manual was inadequate. After making a nuisance of myself, I was pointed in the direction of the videos which are available on the main MFP site and my difficulties have been largely resolved.

I would like to thank Les Benning for his help and for his patience.

It would still be nice to meet another user who lives near me but I think I've turned the corner now. Special thanks also to Andrew Hurrell and Alfazzr for their earlier kind help.

Thanks guys!

Nigel
