ATP Tennis
« on: 01 Sep 2014, 22:07 »
Hi,

Has anyone else noticed some very strange goings on in the ATP Tennis ?

Yesterday there were 3 games whereby the lay book % went to 102.50 for over 1 minute. I also noticed the same thing happen today on 1 other game.

Someone not knowing what they are doing or do they have some strange bot/strategy running ?

Hi,
Are you referring to the US Open ?
Can you remember what the matched volume was at the time?
Did you notice the odds were refreshing regularly during those 2 minutes?
If your connection has temporarily stalled that may cause the market to appear to freeze.

1. Yes it was the US open.
2. There was 32K sitting on one opponent and 14K sitting on the other. Matched volume was going up and up very quickly.
3. The prices were fluctuating on the lay book % from 99.8 - 100.0 - 102.50. But at one point it stayed at 102.50 for over a minute and monies were being matched.
4. My connection to Betfair via MFP and BAP was fine.

Like i said, don't know if someones bot was going wrong or BF cross matching was doing something incorrectly but its happened 3 times so far that i could see.

Also, yesterday on the Andy Murray game the back book % went below 100% for around 20 seconds with monies being matched.

I have seen it happen before on Basketball games in-play but never before on Tennis in-play games.

Very strange. But obviously good if you can get both sides matched evenly!!!

Hi,
I guess it will remain one of Betfair's many mysteries.
We will never know the answer.  :)

Maybe its them doing it on purpose. As people will see easy money, place there bets, BF delays them being matched, reverses money on offer and then the trader is left stuck with an unbalanced book to sort out.

Wouldn't put it past them.

Someone else has told me that its got something to-do with them balancing their sportsbook as they need to act as a bookmaker. Dont know how true that is.

Hi,

I fully understand your concern but may I suggest not to place too much energy in this direction and focus more on trigger development. We can often get bogged down in areas we have no control over. :)

In tennis they have cross matching so this should never ever happen .. it's most likely a system glitch.

The same thing happened on a tennis match lastnight whereby the back book % went to 99.6 for around 30 seconds.

next time you see it .. take a $4 bet on both sides and see what happens .. maybe cross matching has been stopped.

i think that is the case as I mentioned on another post that tennis matches often go several minutes with all three pinks blank.

Sorry to ask this but what happens when we bet $4 to both?
Automatic isn't always everything.

Please note, BetFair is seems to be currently OFFLINE
