Bet placement if PC is turned off
« on: 18 Mar 2023, 10:53 »
Hi,
This may sound a silly question, but can bets be loaded for betting
with certain BSP requirements via notepad method and then turn off PC
Will bets be placed at the off for each event ? Or does PC need to be on
for it to operate ?
Thanks
Ian

Hi
For any automated triggering MFP must be running either on a PC or on a VPS.

If you are placing SP bets or "take SP" bets, it is quite feasible to place the SP bets, or unmatched take SP bets, from a list of selections well in advance of the off and switch the computer off. In this case it would be worth considering price limits, what happens with withdrawn runners etc.

A VPS is effectivley a stable and secure dedicated server which allows running MFP triggers 24/7 if needed. You would connect to the VPS from any PC or tablet anywhere. You could even have a trigger running on the VPS to notify you by email or SMS whats happening with your bets, send statement etc.

In summary, if you want to place bets just before the off for multiple markets, MFP must be running.

Hi Mark,

Still a little confused.
As an example suppose I load
following notepad

Frankel  4.6 10
Shishkin 3.9 10

4.6 and 3.9 being minimum odds required near the off
10 being bet amount.
I then load the two markets
select all markets, press start markets.
Import sections for auto trading.
That then is set up for trading.
Now supposing I turn off the computer
will the bets be placed near the off and comply with the min odds rule ?
OR does that mean the markets within MFP have quit and bets won't be placed ?
Thanks again

Hi
It depends on the condition for minutes before the off when to place the bets.

If the bets are to be placed 1 minute before the off then MFP has to monitor the start time continuously for each market and place the bets accordingly. If you load it up at 10am in the morning ready for trading and switch the computer off, then yes MFP has quit, it cannot monitor start times and no bets will be placed.
