Betfair courses any good?
« on: 17 Apr 2013, 18:41 »
Hi i have been unemployed for a couple of month and have been playing about with different techniques on betfair with varied success. Most of it I have done on training mode but I still don't feel anywhere near enough confident to start hitting the markets for real. I have had a couple of goes and the main fault u can pick with my self is trying to protect my wins rather than the bank that's unferneath it ( to which I learned the costly way last week ) so I withdrew my money and went back to the drawing board before I got silly!!
Anyway the point of the post is are the courses online or in person worth doing? Or are they going to tell me what I already know but can't seem to quite execute at the minute?
And if so who would you put your trust ( and money ) into

Any help would be gratefully received

Cheers

This matter has been discussed in depth on other trading forums. There are two contrasting views :

(i) men who have been or are presently trading as a profession are able to offer an insight into their expertise,

(ii) the courses are worthless because if the men who were running them were so clever why do they need to teach others ?

The answer lies somewhere in between these two views. As you are out of work I would recommend that you

(i) decide which sports/markets interest you most and which you feel you have particular knowledge of,

(ii) study these markets and their movements as much as you can,

(iii) use a training/test mode initially but move to real money as soon as possible,

(iv) start with the Betfair minimum stake of £ 2. Don't be tempted to use small stakes under the Betfair limit as placing them is subject to considerable delay and this can can unduly influence your trading,

(v) don't spend money on training courses. Instead, use it to trade and learn.

(vi) learn as quickly as you can that it is impossible to have winning trades all the time. You must accept losses as part of the job and move on.

Thanks mate been weighing up the options quite a bit in my head over the last few days, I started off pretty well but I think I got sloppy straight away jumping straight in on every race and sometime juggling 2 horses that are both going away from me in opposite directions! It's the reading the markets but that confuses me, sometimes it all points towards a decent trade and as soon as I slap some money on its gone against me 5-6 ticks within 5-10 seconds! Guess everybody has these races tho! I think I'll persevere for the time being tho and maybe even watch without placing any bets at all even in training mode

Thanks again

I would think that that was easily the biggest selling and best of all the trading stuff released. There was a version 2 about 3 or 4 years ago, no idea whether it was any good.

I guess this is the golden rule. men are naturally born to be greedy creatures! :)
Life shrinks or expands in proportion to one's courage.

Please note, BetFair is seems to be currently OFFLINE
