My VPS is down!

My server provider have been working on my server since this morning, first thay said that the backup did not finished correctly. They find some problems with the file system and the operating system (windows) did need to repear. It's been down for 8 hours. This is the first time I have been having any issus with my VPS.

When I ask them thay say it's still running a filecheck! Does anyone have any experince about this problems with there VPS?

Shit happens.... give them another couple of hours then give them another call.

Yes it does, but I asked them for an estimation of time, but no answer to that! I have a feeling it will be down all night...

Which provider do you use and do you, or others recommend?  I have always wanted to run a VPS but only at a reasonable cost.

The one long trial I had with one never got started as Betfair would not recognise it as a UK IP address despite me speaking to them to confirm and prove my location and assurances from the provider it was a UK address - I never did get to log into Betfair and got my money back.

I have been using VPS for some years now, I've had 2 problems over the years -1 DDos attac and 1 file system problem. The file system problem I never noticed myself, it was the provider that told me about it (it tok 12 hour to fix). So my computer maybe have been "disabled" for 18 hours in two years or so!

I am using operating system Windows 2008, the provider told me the file system problem will somtimes occure on windows-VPS. I have only experiance of Windows VPS, it s bit more costly compared to Linux. I know that Windows 2008 works well with MFP - that's why I only use Windows.

I only use providers located in Sweden, the lates one I have been trying for 1 day also have servers placed in London (both swedish and uk IP's works with betfair). The servers placed in London give faster average connection time. This companys only have there sites in Swedish, so they are only suitible if you understund Swedish.

My latest VPS I pay by minutes I have the server up (created), corresonding to £0.031/hour.

I would recomend you to have a VPS-proider in the same country where you living, if it's a country aproved by betfair. For many years ago a was testing a VPS-provider in US, they had Ip's in Euorpa, bet it was not working with betfair.
