Newbie Help
« on: 16 Sep 2011, 17:58 »
Hi All
I’m a complete newbie to MF and this is my first post here  ;D

I fully intend to get stuck into writing plans and triggers, but i was hoping some experienced uses would answer a few basic questions to clear up a few concerns  i have ;D

I Have been using the Grey horse bot (GHB) for many years and have written  quite a few staking plans in Excel to use with GHB however there are a few things i need that GHB cant do and i was hoping MF could fill in the gap  ;D

With GHB no matter what staking plan i write, the actual stake amount always ends up in Column  J or H.

GHB use the cells in these columns to pick up the stake or liability amounts for each race (market) after the plan calculates the amounts

1 Can MF be configured to use a specific Column in Excel for the stake amount? (any column will do)

2  Will the markets be loaded into excel as well as in the MF application (GHB used column A)

3  I use the greyhound markets, can MF Dutch bet using trap numbers?

4 IMPORTANT (this is what GHB can’t do) can Excel Tell MF which trap numbers to use on each race ie  can the runners selection be changed by Excel control, for example,  Dutch traps 1,2,3 on one race then change to 2,3,4 on the next, then 4,5,6  etc
Any help would be greatly appreciated ;D

hi
you can do all this without excel.
just write the trigger to do what you want.
there are plenty of users that will help.
you have to remember that if you use excel, then the bot has to talk to excel then excel back to the bot, time is odds change, even more with greyhounds.
mfp works better without excel, the only time you need excel is if it is a very complicated staking plan

welcome

Hi  mcbee

Wow that was a speedy reply, thank you   ;D

seems this MFP is more powerful than i thought, I will now look into writing some triggers to see if i can use my staking plan without Excel.

I prefer not to use excel but with GHB there was little choice so nearly all new scenarios had to be writen into a spread sheet.

the plan i use mainly is : fixed target amount per race, then all losses forward for recovery in one go its not complicated ( a little scary at times) so i think i will have a go at it.

Thank you once more, it is much appreciated hopefully in time i will be able to help others and return the favour (might take a while  ;D  )

Cheers

start slowly .. use test mode.

get the selection working correctly then move on to the staking plan.

I am not a fan a recovery staking, but if it works for you and you have the stomach for it, then all the best.

Hi All

Its the Newbie again,  ;D

Getting on OK with my learning curve, but i wonder if i could ask for a little more help to speed things along  ;D

Does anyone have or know where i can get a staking plan trigger that follows the Cash Master system?

I have it on Excel, and i wanted to avoid using the excell sheets with MFP

Its a faily basic staking plan,

You set the target profit you want PER RACE, (say £1) and carry all losses forward, adding a further target profit (£1) for EVERY race.

after a win you will have your total target to that point, and it will revert back to the begining of the cycle and start all over again  ;D

its a bit risky  ;D  not good for the nerves.

Any help or where i can get one wolud be appreciated

Cheers

Hi  mcbee

Sorry for late post, a little thing called 'work' is getting in the way  >:(

I am still trying to get to get  the cash master plan to do what i want, but im getting there albeit very slowly. ;D

I am trying to modify it as well because im going to put a limit on the target profit, so it 'flatlines' when this is reached and stay there until (or if  >:( ) it catches up and reverts back to the starting cycle.

I have used this for a long time with GHB and i would say 60% of the time it catches up, the rest of the time it drains the bank.  >:(

the objective in the end is to change this even further and it will switch to level stakes  instead of flat lining, (this is now set in a spreadsheet) this will make it more controlable while on loss recovery  ;D

Given the unpredictability of greyhound races, and the 'fairly constant odds range',  i find it is quite possible to achieve a come-back with good recovery control,

as you say its the percentage of the bank risked that wipes out bank levels, even a long lossing run has to end sometime, its just keeping in there, in control, until it does  ;D

Thnks for the reply, much appreciated, I will keep trying and use test mode until i have it as i need in the language that MFP understands  ;D

Cheers
