SMF,
I agree with you, but you can extract information from market - if you asume it's "correct" analyzed. I reason like that anyway.

Well, you can extract from the market if for example Barcelona is playing, but not if its a friendly, cup,  spanish supercup, european supercup, copa catalunya, championsleague or Liga game. MFpro is pretty poor when it comes to support for football.

How exactly could MFPro ever know they were cup matches etc. when this information is not present in the name of the market assigned by Betfair?

If you don't want to trade a specific competition, then you will need to perform the arduous task of manually deleting such markets.

It is present, betfair gives this via the API. It is called the "eventName"

hi
today i had to go and change my settings from bank-x to bank, thus putting the full bank at risk and i very nearly paid the price, half way through i noticed it was strugling so i quickly altered the stake to what it should have been and after a while my bank returned to normal.
GREED, i thought all was good so i wanted that bit more, now i have set my bank to bank/2, just to be extra safe.
it just shows, if i had let it carry on my bank would have gone again.

The old rule of just risking a couple of percent of the bankroll, will make you survive any negative fluctuation, but everyone gets greedy form time to time.

A thought experiment!

Suppose you have a profitable trigger, running day after day, but with low stakes and small profits. What will happen when you are ready "to get greedy", and you start inrease the stakes, the best thing that could happen is that everything works the same as with low stakes - you still earning money, but more!

The other scenario (the bad one) is that when you increas the stakes and you gain more, the losses will be significant for the counterpart - now he knows he is giving or taking the wrong odds and he will correct it and you end up with a strategy that's not working anymore!

Any thoughts?

hi
well, this is back to the correct bank/stake ratio.
get it correct and you make profit
get it wrong and you lose your bank

The thought experiment was about the dynamics in the market - not that a bankroll is ranning out due to high stakes. How will the market respond to higer stakes, I suppose that depends on the counterpart - bot, neural-network, a person doing analysis etc.

hi
sorry, i did not understand the market bit, as you mentioned, low stakes and small profits, to me. this is still money management, bank/stake ratio.

It's nice to see that there is atleast some triggers that being profitable, I think am one of the earliest users of this software( 2004 or so), then leaving it for some years and are now back since a year or so! I also belive there is punters, using mfp, who keep quiet about there profits, ofcourse, or not being at this forum at all.

over and out!

hi matt
why did you end with a negative, out
with you been a user for a long time, you must have a lot of knowllege.
there will always be the silent users but lookers, i myself was just a looker, because i was internet shy.
i purchased my first bot and after a short time, i noticed that i had learned more than most, so i became a moderator of another bot forum, to help other users that could not understand the settings.
i help where i can here, but we should all help each other to find that small pot of gold.
i always say that i make my money from other punters, ie - betting.
but the trueth is i help other users to make money and i am still waiting for help, because i cannot help myself, i use my time testing other users setting/triggers.
maybe one day, a user will return the favour by giving me a half profitable trigger/setting.
