Controlling odds
« on: 15 Sep 2009, 10:59 »
Wouldn’t it be great if you could control the odds on betfair. In test mode obviously, when I’ve got trigger I want to test inplay but can’t get the trigger to fire because conditions aren’t right. Sometimes all I need is the odds to drop one tick and it will fire.  So I wait till inplay then trigger fires and I can move on to the next part of the trigger block. Usually I’ll find there’s something else I need to change, then edit trigger and start over again.

The point I’m trying to make is if you could pretend the odds are at a price you set, then you could test so many ideas and check that triggers are fool proof.
You could then check “what would my trigger do if the price on fav dropped by one tick?” and so much more. Also if you could change back/lay amounts etc would also be helpful.
Another great feature to add could be a script of the odds say in a previous football match so you could back test how a trigger would of behaved in that market.

Sort of like your own API link to betfair.
Just wanted to put them ideas out, no idea how easy it would be to build

Maddox,

I agree - I had been thinking that too.  I thought you could perhaps record a section of real odds in a market either in-play or before, and then play it back to test a triggger.

It could possibly be stored as a csv file with info, say, per second for each runner, back price and amount times three and lay price and amount times three.  You could then even edit it to stick in a spurious spike to see how the triggers react.

I have made done with using a screen recorder to play back an event to see in retrospect what happened and why.

I don't want to rush things, but I'll just make a hint that "custom markets" and "virtual exchange" is something we are planning for the future of MF pro.
Always try your triggers in Test Mode before switching to real money!

Sorry to bump up this old one but I just would like to give virtual exchange feature a +1 here.
We only live once.

Please note, BetFair is seems to be currently OFFLINE
