I Don't Like Microsoft
« on: 08 May 2013, 18:41 »
A few weeks ago I bought a copy of Microsoft Office for my daughter. This company has always sought to control the PC user and make us all reliant on them. I am willing to use the Windows operating systems, because I have no choice in the matter, but I have resolved never again to but any other Microsoft products.

So, I don't have Excel and will never have it. A lot of people share my views. Currently, I use Libre software for my "office" needs. Is there any chance that MFP can be adapted to run in conjunction with other types of spreadsheet software, please ? The world is changing and I believe that Microsoft Office is too expensive, too restrictive and it is time to break its monopoly. Many of my friends are abandoning Microsoft Office in favour of the free software and I think this trend will continue. The idea of "cloud" based Office software horrifies me and I will not use it.

We were considering Open Office from the beginning, but they did not have the interface to communicate with the program at that moment.
Not sure if things have changed, may have a look.

I believe it may be easier with LibreOffice. This page gives the impression that it can be combined with other software.
