Monitoring Start/End Time
« on: 15 Oct 2009, 07:35 »
When you load events the refresh rate in currently chosen in settings comes in with that race and remains unless manually changed.

This is useful as I load different event types with different refresh rates.

What would be even more useful would be to have the monitoring times come with the individual events so that different strategies can have differrent start times.

(and perhaps avoid a few of these very annoying crashes which I can only put down to excessive data handinling issues ?)

Could this be included ?

So if I understand correctly you want to start monitoring each event at a different point?

Well, for me, yes, I have some triggers that fire on dogs just before the off, so 2 mins monitoring would be more than sufficient, but for horses I am trading (badly) and several hours would be good.

On financial markets (hourly FTSE) ten minutes would be good.

So, yes, if the monitoring times were assigned to the events on loading like the refresh times are (or you could control monitoring from within a trigger that ran all day) that would be good for me.  (Makes me seem really demanding!)

Have you tried changing the refresh rate of a market using a trigger with the action "set market's idle refresh to".

Yes, for dogs which I do not try to trade I monitor only at two minute intervals until about 5 mins then reduce to 30 secs until 1 min to go when it drops to 10 secs.

For horses, I use a 23 second interval until 10 mins out then 10 secs until five mins out then 1 sec until the off.

The trouble is with dogs going off at 5-8 minumte intervals and horses at 5 - 10 minutes, by mid afternoon I can be trying to monitor 72 events at once if the start time it set to say three hours before the start.

Even at quite wide refresh rates for everything other than those in play or close to the off, that slows things down a lot.
