Netbooks

Often enuff, I have to use my netbook for MFP instead of my laptop or desktop machine.
Well you know how small the netbook screen is! Anyway, apart from the main MFP screen and event trees, all other screens (settings, triggers, connection monitor etc) are too large for the netbook. i.e. the bottoms are cut off. As the "save" buttons are almost always at the bottom of those MFP screens, I can't change any settings etc when using my netbook because the MFP screens don't have scroll bars to bring the bottoms up. I'm forced to copy from my latop/desktop to a stick and paste into my netbook...which is tedious.

Maybe there are others who'd need/want to use netbooks for MFP, so can Welldone update a solution ?...Pretty please.

I understand the difficulties, but kind of struggle to think of alternative way of displaying the same amount of information on a single screen. Balancing between users' requests to add more info and the necessity to keep it fit to the screen size can be tough.

Can you attach a screenshot of what you see on your netbook, so that I could get an idea of how you see it?

pfc,

just because I am curious: Which netbook do you use for MFP?  To save energy i planned to buy a netbook but i was not sure if CPU power is sufficient for my needs.
So i use a Acer Aspire L5100 instead ( Athlon 64 Dual Core CPU@1600 with Windows XP) Works fine for me when refresh rate is 20s or higher for 6 markets with up to 1000 matched bets per merket. With lower refresh rate and more than 6 markets, CPU is 100% all time.

Maybe it is an option for you to use your desktop machine for MFP and open a Remote Desktop Conection from netbook or laptop to access your desktop machine.

Martin,

My netbook is an Acer Aspire ZG5 (Intel Atom N270) with 1GB DDR2 Ram and 160GB storage and Windows XP Home. Not as fast as your Acer ! As always everyone (including me) would prefer a faster machine ! But that's not the problem as I've no trouble using my netbook for MFP other than I gotta transfer all my currently preferred settings to it via stick from my main computer. It's tedious when if you need to change settings often.

Remote desktop procedure will not solve the problem for me as I'd still be viewing MFP on my netbook's smaller screen.

Oxa,

In Settings/General Options, the bottom of my netbook screen cuts through "Command Line Settings". I can't see anything below that. That should give you an accurate "picture" of the problem.

Seems to me an easy solution would be to incorporate scroll bars at the side of the screen. But I'm not surprised if it's just not as easy as it seems to me !

If you guys can...great. If ya can't...I'll live with it.

Yes, thats true. But you will have at least scrollbars on netbook remote viewer, so that you can move to the part of MPF you want to see.

pfc, a scrolling window could be a nice workaround, thanks for the suggestion. I'll add it to our "wish list" for the next update.

pfc, I believe the latest update will help you a bit: at least it's designed to scroll the "Triggers" and "Settings" windows when they get resized below certain values.

Please let me know if you can see the pages' contents on your netbook now.
If not, please attach a screenshot (do you need help on how to make screenshots?).

Pfc, how does it look in the latest update, can you see the Monitor using the scrollbars?
