Odds comparison via Excel
« on: 01 Sep 2009, 00:27 »
Hi,

I want to suggest one more killer function for MFPro.

For my own betting I could improve profitability dramatically if I could compare Betfair odds with bookmaker odds automatically via triggers.

Again, theoratically it is possible to import the relevant data (from odds comparison sites like www.bestbetting.com or www.oddschecker.com) into Excel but I don't have the programming skills....

For example I want to lay any runner which current lay price at Betfair is lower than bookmaker's price.

I'll see if that's possible (subconsciously I know it is!) after I finish my experiments with checking live football scores in triggers.
Always try your triggers in Test Mode before switching to real money!

In general it is a common practice for arbers in the arbitrage world.
What might be very interesting is to be able to have this information for InPlay markets.
It seems that bookmakers are not well organized at InPlay and there are important differences between them i.e after a goal.
On the other hand data feeds for InPlay exist.

Best Regards

What also should be very interesting is to have a method to bet in the same time on other bookmakers sites via MFPro triggers that calculate the surebet!
Many bookmakers give that possibility (with web interfaces) at sites that produce arb services like www.betbrain.com, www.betonvalue.com, www.oddsportal.com etc.
Definetely, it will open MFP at the arbers world.

Just thinking...

If this can be done, it will also be a good alternative to built triggers based on the movements of Industrial SP other than Betfair market.

If Oxa can achieve this miracle trigger she really is  a "GOD"
The ability to compare any bookmaker price v Betfair would be an absolute belter of and advantage. In fact the advantage would be so great it would almost be UNFAIR! :o
This time next year, we will all be paying Betfair premium charge commission rates!

In fact, this is already offered (as XML feed) from services like www.tip-ex.com, www.globalsportsmedia.com,....

I think that the possibility to integrate bookmakers odds in MFP (I mean use them in our triggers, even without the possibility to bet on the bookmaker's site, just information for market movements) might be tremendous.

This will also might be of great interest for arbers as well (new clients for MFP!)

I have tested the XML feed (Fixtures, Results & Standings) from www.globalsportsmedia.com 18 months before for a software project.

The test connection to their feed was accomplished via SOAP.

They were covering the following Sports:
- Soccer (Coverage of 630 leagues)
- Women soccer (Coverage of 35 leagues)
- Ice hockey  (Coverage of 40 leagues)
- Basketball (To be added in Q3 2008)

The Coverage includes:
- Live results
- Fixtures monitoring
- League tables and form tables
- Pre-match information and head2head statistics
- Player statistics (line-ups, goal scorers and bookings)
- Information from over  9.000+ teams (including high quality logo's)
- Information from over 20.000+ players

They seem to be proffessionals and not very expensive.

As I've been told, their partner (Sportspunter) could supply the Odds Service. I didn't contact them yet.

Has anybody made any progress on this since the previous postings nearly a year or so ago regarding displaying live prices from external sources, such as a bookie's, on an Excel sheet so that MFP can compare them to the BF prices?

Please note, BetFair is seems to be currently OFFLINE
