Race Recorder
« on: 20 Mar 2010, 18:58 »
Hi
Whats the possibility of building a race recorder in MF Pro ?. For example set a horse race to record. At 10 mins before the start MF starts recording all the race data into a file and stops recording when the race finishes. In test mode you can then replay the race enabling you to test triggers and use "what if" scenarios without having to wait for real races.

Thanks

Hi,
I remember from the MFPro 4.2 era that you could have MFPro record race details into a .csv file for easy importation and analysis in excel. I know because back then I wrote an excel program to "replay" the race using the .csv data. Then this functionality was withdrawn because, as I understand it, Betfair asserts rights over the historical data and its usage. Currently you need to pay for a licence to do what you suggest and at the moment there's only one software developer that is licensed to do what you suggest: http://www.fracsoft.com

I remember 10 minutes worth of recorded data is several mega bytes in size so a days recording can easily be giga bytes in size!

However, it would be great if this functionality was built into MFPro.

Hi
OT is correct about Betfair not wanting developers to record race data. Even the Betfair data they release is ordered by matched odds to make it difficult to achieve a race replay.

However, it should be easy to set up a trigger which does something trivial (e.g. set a variable) on any selection who's back odds are less than 0. All the horse odds will be recorded with a time stamp in the trigger file (as a failure to match the condition).

Some simple VB software could easily pull the historical data with timestamp from this file.

Just a thought...

Good idea. Has anyone implemented this?

as i wrote on a different post  a virtual simulator of a live race could do the same work without the need of permittion of BF. The results ofcourse wont be 100% reliable but the testing of the trigger and the way it will work it will be real for sure. I think it is easier for MF to give this kind of solution. Not only for horse racing but also for other major live events like soccer and tennis.

Please note, BetFair is seems to be currently OFFLINE
