Simulator for testing triggers
« on: 23 Jul 2013, 23:14 »
As we all know there is no possibility of "back testing" any of the triggers. This got me thinking. How about if one could have a horse race simulator linked up with MF?

I do have access to an unprotected copy of it (unfortunately, xlsm extensions are not allowed in this forum, so I'm unable to attach it here). The only thing that has to be added to it are algorithms calculating the fluctuating odds in relation to the position of the horse in the race.

I really think that Welldone should consider adding this feature to MF, and I guess some of the members in here could collaborate in making the simulator suitable for the task...

The last i heard MFP were not allowed to store historical data for the sports exchange. With no previous data, you can only forward test.

Not quite correct 1oser,  Welldone have beta tested a Time Machine for MFPro that uses historical timed data.  The beta test is currently suspended, as Betfair required various encryption of the data, I believe.  Properly licensed software developers can apparently sell  historical data, just as Fracsoft have done.

Lets hope MFP can get going .. I have a fracsoft account and have used them .. but getting them to run your "triggers" is a problem. Didn't work out for me.

That's unfortunate though. Has someone found a way for this already?
