  • Hi,

I have a question relating to Notepad when using Excel.
What is the correct protocol when entering a horse name into Notepad ?
Often I get a 'FALSE' log message when reading from the Notepad file.
    The file destination is correct.
    Thanks

  • Hi racepro
Selection name spelling should be exactly as on Betfair. It's a string so it has to be enclosed in quotes, and is case-sensitive.

  • Thanks Mark, I wasn't using the "" marks. strangely though, it did work on some races
    without them.

Hi racepro, I think it works on selections name with only one name (without space).

  • You maybe right Tupp as it did work for me using one word horse names, however probably best to follow Mark's advice as that is likely to be the correct protocol.
I'll report back today after placing bets.

  • Hi,
The bets were placed correctly using the "" format as suggested by Mark.
However I am using    winner_name   in one of my conditions to post the div.
and it is not reading the name on the notepad.
    Should I be using      "winner_name"  (The "" added)  ?
I can try it but winners are thin on the ground :) I'll probably get a reply first
    Thanks again

  • Hi racepro
In case you did not test it, yes, enclose the variable in your expression in double quotes. From a soccer market:
    s_1_sel_name returns Under5.5Goals
    "s_1_sel_name" returns Under 5.5 Goals

  • From what I read in this thread I am doing everything right but
Selections name is in this file - Doesn't work
My lookup file is a text file.
I use "" for all names as some have spaces while other don't
Punctuation marks are removed in accordance with Betfair.
The names have a leading Capital

    Example in text file "Harnova"

However the Trigger log results in FALSE:
Selection: 1. Harnova, initial expr.: "harnova", intermediate: "harnova", final: "harnova".

  • Support - Would having the trigger already connected to a spreadsheet be an issue?

  • I haven't used this method for Horse's name before and it seems very simple but it doesn't work.
For a Horse with a Name Media Baron, in my text file I used
    "Media Baron"
    "media baron"

    neither recognized by MFPro?
    See image.
Any Suggestion Oxa, McBee, Mark V

  • I've tried everything.
Only 1 trigger with 1 condition.
    Still won't work.

  • Hi londolozi
    long shot, try:
selections trigger expression "sel_name" is in file...

this one also worked when I tested just now

  • It appears to be a connection issue.
If I have or did have (same PC session, no hard reset) a profile (any profile) connected to an excel worksheet, 'in the file' does not work.
I will keep testing today to confirm 100%

  • BUG CONFIRMED (on my system):

Selections Name 'is in the file' does not work if any operating profile is connected to an Excel session.

I was having problems when the profile was started after the excel profile was already running.

Today I started a profile that worked ( 'in the file') standing alone before the excel profile was started. However, I encountered the same problem with the 'in the file' profile. It reads the text file but the Condition results in FALSE even though Conditions are TRUE.

    Could someone test this.
Two profiles, one connected to excel. Regardless of markets.
The second uses Selections Name 'is in file'
