Thanks mcbee, but how do you know when the race will finish? If this is known to be accurate historically then it could be extremely useful for me!

The method I have been told to use is to wait "x" seconds after the start of the race, i.e. after it goes in-play. But "x" varies according to the race distance.

This is clearly very powerful software!

Hi guys,

I have been testing the trigger file today (and will continue to do so for the rest of the week). Some promising signs, but I have noticed the following:

(1) Pretty much all selections have been priced below 1.3;
(2) Sometimes the selection is placed too early.

I think the latter may happen when the favourite is a big odd-on price, but still the trigger should wait until 33 seconds before the end of the race before placing any bets.

Could you please take a look at the trigger when you have time.

Also, could you take a look at my query above.

Best regards,

Mark

A quick addition to the above post:

(3) I just watched the win market for a 1 mile 4 furlong flat race and observed 6 horses trading below the set limit, but no place bet was made.

Mark

hi
the true time will not be 33 secs as the calculation will always be + or -.
if there is a lot of changing near the end then the selection order might not be correct, so no bet can be placed, the fav in the win market must be the fav in the place market etc, if not then the wrong selection would be bet on.
the time to end is something that you need to work on as well as the other settings until you get nearly all wins, there will be times when the selection is pushed back to the 4th place, you cannot do anything about that.
you need to be selective with the type of race etc, this again is a learning curve.

Thanks for the response, all understood. I am not sure about the "time to end" because in the last race a bet was placed 30 seconds after the start in a race that lasted over 4 minutes. I don't understand the formula for calculating this value so I'm not sure how to proceed. Perhaps it's best if I switch to "time from start" to place the bets - what do you think?

Best regards,

Mark

hi
so that you can see the times
press the user variables icon at the top of the bot screen
then copy these and paste them in the variable screen
RaceTime
TimeToEnd
wait

now you will be able to see the count down time as the race progresses

In my version of this I set a wait time based on the author's recommendations in his update, where he suggests waiting a certain time per mile of a flat race and a longer time per mile of a jump race.  Now I extrapolate this to cover every race distance in flat and NH and then multiply the resultant times by a factor as I think the basic wait times are a little short, although this is something to experiment with.

All other parts of the triggers are as close as I can get to the method.  I am testing today and it has performed extremely well, with bets matched so far in region 1.3 - 1.5, but what will happen in live betting remains to be seen.

hi
in live betting you will get from 1.10 to 1.4 matched, because of the time factor of sending the bet and it been matched.

Thanks to both of you for your input. Tomorrow I will adjust the wait time according to the race distance as per the official strategy.

Really pleased to hear that you've had a positive day of testing :)

All the best,

Mark

P.S. rubold, are you testing Irish races too?

Yes, I include the Irish races for testing.

I don't think this will be profitable in live betting if matches are as low as 1.10, as mcbee suggests.   I avoid this by using 1.3 as the price requested, so won't be matched less than 1.3

I tend to agree and will also stick to 1.3 minimum. The same problem is faced when trading it manually though, i.e. the 2-second delay before the bet is submitted. So I will definitely persevere with this as I'm sure it can generate decent margins.

Hi mcbee,

There seems to be an issue with the RaceTime calculation, e.g. for a 3 mile chase the RaceTime value was 58.82 seconds. The race time itself was circa. 394 seconds, judging by the TimeToEnd value.

If you have some spare time it would be great if you could take a look.

All the best,

Mark

hi
just tried it in the last race and it fired at the exact time set.
what in-play refresh rate have you set, it should be a minimum of .30

Aha! I have 2.00 secs! But would this cause the RaceTime calculation to go haywire? I thought this was set before the race starts. The actual countdown, i.e. TimeToEnd, seems to work fine, it just shows 2 secs less each time the market refreshes. So, to clarify, it's the actual estimation of RaceTime that seems to be out.

Thanks again for looking in to this :)
