Just how important is it to close blocks?

I'm not really sure I understand the reason for closing blocks, my triggers all seem to work fine without doing this.

Should I be doing this?

close block is used mainly for continous betting or can be used to stop betting etc by closing the block when your profit is reached.
most triggers do not need the close block.
