laying in running
« on: 17 May 2014, 10:18 »
Good Morning.
I have a trigger that lays a horse when it reaches  certain odds in running.
This works well unless on rare occasions the horse gets back into the race and wins!
Can anybody suggest an add on where if say it goes out to 200-1 the lay bet is triggered but if it come back to lets say 50-1 another bet can be made to cover the potential loss?
Many thanks. ???

hi
just add a backing trigger with the conditions
and selections lay matched is greater than 0
and selections back price is equal or less than 50

This is very unlikely to work because of two reasons.

1. Lay @200 and backing @50 is already creating a negative expectation. If the horse wins you still lose.

2. At the speed the markets move you will not always be even matched.

Laying @200 and in-play you need to work on being profitable without any saver bet.

Assuming it did get matched their must be a way of betting a certain amount to cover some or all of the potential lay loss?
If it didn't get matched i'm no worse of as i would loose anyway !

I would be very careful laying at 200-1 in play- the back odds would most likely be much lower. - particularly with low liquidity. You will get stung, its only a matter of time. I have seen may inplay BACK odds go out to 50-1 plus and romp home.

Cheers

Goes out to 50/1 and then romps home. How many times does that actually happen ?. Could be a good strategy in itself!!!!
