Many thanks to Welldone for your patience and replies to my problems.
And much thanks also to 1oser and armanie for their input also.
In view of the issues that are clearly present for novice users of the VPS system, I am led to believe that Welldone are putting together and instruction video in (audio and visual) in order to take us through step by step the procedure required for setting up the platform on the VPS.
For me it would have saved me a couple of days of frustration as not all of us understand all the intricacies available of the technology as easily as those who have built it.
I guess it is rather like driving someone to a destination with only the passenger knowing how to get there, but the passenger forgetting to give you instructions on the way!     I know i have done that...... ::)...

Thank you for your feedback - it's really helpful.
We naively thought that everybody are computer geniuses like we are ::) 8)
It's going to be more comfortable to upload files to VPS, working on it.
I'm not sure about the sound but a video tutorial will definitely be.

Would like to hear from armarni is that a problem to be a non-administrator user on your VPS?

Thanks everybody for the replies.

If somebody hasn't got his trial - there is no more VPSes left. We'll get back to you as soon as we get one.

Hi WellDoneSoft

I dont quite understand the question as I only have one account on my computer which is the main administrator account.

My issues (which where all dealt with very quickly at your end) where
1: log in information i was given didnt work
2: no ability to upload files to the vps via ftp (or any other way I could think of)
3: once ftp access was available I could log in using filezilla ftp program, but it came up with a folder structure error that meant I could upload files but not download files.  I sorted this by changing filezilla from passive to active mode.

I did notice that last night my vers of mfp which I was running on your vps stopped running.  Does the vps reboot sometimes?  If so, would it make sense to allow the vps user to install monitoring software so they could be alerted to this fact?

Hi Armarnie
Just read you’re posting re the problem of the VPS platform stopping!
Was this definitely the case or was it just inactive for a while.
The thought of the platform not working on the server is possibly worse than a local server internet loss, because as you say how would you know unless you were monitoring it constantly?
I was using a program called "Autoit" to start the platform on my computer when it crashed so I guess the same program could be uploaded to the server?

Here's is what you also need to do.

Disabled the event tracker (Windows Server Editions)

Enable auto admin login to console.

Then add the autoit (monitoring application) to the startup folder.

This way should your vps ever be rebooted for what ever reason, it will login and lauch autoit which will then launch MFP.

Hi Betfair winner

I assume it rebooted as mfp was running overnight, set to automatically download markets in the morning, and when I checked it around midday, it wasnt running.  I can only assume that the server was rebooted.  We have to remember it's a Beta test at the moment so these things happen, but it's useful because it throws up questions as to what to do when it happens in non testing mode.  1osers information is very useful, so thanks for that.

The VPSes wasn't rebooted so I assume MF pro crashed itself.
We are working on a monitoring applications that will restart MF pro in that case. It will manage the uploading/downloading routine as well to avoid ftp-related problems.

I guess all your emails are going into your junk folder again!

The VPS platform is still not working

I have sent you numerous emails and also a video explaining that when loading the horse racing markets, they are deleting themselves moments after loading.
However you did suggest that the problem is to do with my settings. This is incorrect as the settings have not changed since it worked ok for the first two days.

Please would you look into this problem?
Many thanks

Just in case anyone from support for VPS is reading this since i have been unable to contact them now for some time.  I have found the problem with the test platform regarding deleting of all the horse racing markets.
For some reason the platform is seeing the racing yet to commence as "finished" and deleting them all as soon as they load.
Anyone using the platform will have to untick "delete finished markets automatically" under the betting option tab in settings in order to be able to use those markets.

Unfortunately we've discovered that the VPS is not ready yet. Even for beta.
We'll get back to you as soon as we get any news.
Sorry for any inconveniences.

With the VPS trial shelved for a while from MF pro, as an interim measure I was thinking of using these people. Where I am in Spain we get power cuts in the winter when the weather gets serious! :o
The link to these people is here and it is only 11 euros per month.

Just two triggers would run to close the open positions, for the afternoon. Also does anyone know  how easy is it to upload the software required to the VPS to run the trading platform
the spec is below
Processor 600MHz
Memory 512MB RAM
Swap memory 1GB
25 GB disc space
max. server agregation 1:16

512Mb ram might be low .. but then it will depend on the number of markets and triggers you intend to run.

To upload I use file hosting services and delete the stuff off their servers as soon as it has been loaded to the vps! A password protected zip if you are the paranoid type.

Upload from your local pc, then copy paste the link to on browser on the server and download.

Our software requires Microsoft Windows OS :'(

512 Mb is enough for Windows 2003 without using Excel.
