  • Hello I wondered if you could please design a trigger/ a suite of triggers...Its about trading crossover points...scalping really.

As you know there are certain  price ranges on the betfair market that have "crosssover points" on the tick increments.
That is something that I want to try and exploit.

If you accept that there is an equal chance of any price moving up or down then what I want to do is place a lay at the crossover points in conjunction with a 1 tick offset and 1 tick stop loss...therefore if price moves out we gain by a bigger percentage than we lose if the price shortens.

An example would be if we lay a horse when its LAY price is 3.0 (a crossoverpoint)..then leave a 1 tick offset/stoploss...then
either the offset backs it at 3.05 (a gain of 0.5)..or the stop loss backs it at 2.98 (a loss of 0.2).

So even random price movements should provide a long term profit.

    Furthermore these crossover points occur at 2.0 (up .02..down 0.01)....4.0 (up 0.1..down 0.05), 6.0 and 10..

So could a trigger be designed to do this?....when any horse gets to exactly 2.0,4.0,6.0 or 10.0....place a lay bet with a one tick offset and one tick stop loss.

I suspect the trigger needs to start maybe 5 mins? before the race and can continue repeating and placing bets all the way to off time.

The strategy should work assuming random price movement up and down....it would work even better if you could include in the trigger indicators which suggested when prices were likely to drift..such as .... ..
    WOM...
Relative price movement of other selections..
    Sufficient liquidity at neighbouring prices?..
(Could you point me in the right direction with those please)

Also do you have an opinion on whether it would work in the "in-running market"

Ideally need a suite of triggers all trading pre-race at the crossover points I mention above (to see if one crossover point is more profitable / consistent than others................and another set of triggers doing the same but in running only.

I also be very grateful if you have any comments/ideas for the above.
    Thank you very much

  • Hello..are you OK?

I requested a trigger a while ago and you sent me a reply saying that you were working on it last Sunday....I havnt heard anything from you since...is everything OK?..also I havnt been asked to pay for the trigger so I was worried that I had been lost somewhere in the system.

  • hi
    sorry for the delay.
with testing, i found your system/method had a flaw, when you place a lay bet at whatever price, the back bet is always 1 tick less, so the result was always minus profit,so i tried many ways and came up with this trigger, hope it is what you wanted.
in the constants you can set
    bet amount
Stop placing lay bets before the start time   .016=1 second
Time delay to place the stop loss   .016=1 second
Tick difference over the set time is equal or greater than (to place bet)
Tick difference time in seconds  .016=1 second
    Profit tick difference plus
    Stop loss tick difference minus

the triggers will place a lay bet at the pre set prices of 2,3,4,6 and 10 only when the price is equal to the set price and the back and lay price is only 1 tick difference, at the same time a back bet will be placed to try and get matched for a profit.
if the price changes in the wrong direction by your set tick difference and your set time delay after the lay bet is matched, then a stop loss bet will be placed and the other unmatched back bet will be canceled.
to use the triggers in-play, you will have to remove the Minutes Before the Off condition in the betting triggers, then change the triggers to in-play.

please use test mode until you are happy with your settings
