PRICES FROM LIVE TRIGGERS V TEST TRIGGERS
« on: 22 Mar 2012, 07:13 »
Just done a lengthy test on horse racing, which I put in live about a week ago, where in test from around 600 samples the ROI was 5.4%

One week of live testing the same trigger produced 0.1% in live but  a consistent 5.7% in test.

I suppose one of the reasons for test bets not mirroring live play is the reduction factor especially if low priced horses are withdrawn. Clearly this has a major effect in live whereas I guess in test this aspect is nor applied? ::)

I'd say be happy with 0.1% and do some live better testing and hopefully improve it!

Also maybe you can generate enough commission with this to avoid the PC.

The problem with test mode is not just reduction factors, but also the fact that once you enter a market in live mode, you now affect it directly and just change the figures!

I have a trigger which in test mode shows a great fill rate and decent profit, but live I was not filled as expected because I tended to be at the back of the queue. This was not even in play!

Thats interesting 1oser, I am already on betfairs PC so maybe i have not understood you correctly, do you mean "offset" the PC..... can you clarfiy?
Thanks for that info. My test in "live" was also pre play not in play and al at available back prices which should be more accurate. But we will see what develops as this pan out longer term.

If the trigger only makes 0.1% I would it makes some losses as well as winners!

According to the betfair website you are charged if "Commission generated less than 40% of lifetime gross profits" so this trigger might get you closer to that threshold.

I'll try to test this out and see if it still works.

Peleus, I wonder why you keep reopening topics that have been long forgotten? I noticed this a while ago and would like to know your reasons.
