Running multiple strategies
« on: 09 Mar 2023, 18:52 »
Hey,

So I'm new to MF Pro. Just wondering if you can run multiple strategies at the same time and if so, how? Do you add a new block with a different strategy? For example, you could have one block for a strategy on Football and another block for an horse racing strategy? Thanks.

Hi
The easiest way to do this is to run multiple instances of MFP. See helpfile "login window" and also in the settings > betting options > ignore bets except those placed in current profile

You can run different strategies in the same trigger file in one instance of MFP but you need to be careful they dont interfere with each other, e.g. variable names. etc.

In your triggers you can set the Markets field to trigger only in specific sports, so for example you could have a set of horse racing triggers and a set of football triggers in the same trigger file.

If you are using different staking systems on the same markets it gets a bit more difficult. Here is an example trigger which shows how it's done.

Thanks, I didn't know you could run multiple instances of the program. So will the statement be combined for all strategies so I'd have to manually shift through the data to find P/L for a specific strategy?

Hi
Your Betfair account statement includes all bets and MFP retrieves the statement data directly from Betfair, so yes. It's fairly easy to export the statement to Excel (see Excel tab in settings). Also, a commonly used method is to use slightly different betting amounts for each strategy. e.g. £2.00 racing, £2.01 football etc. then can sort by amount in Excel.

Hi!

I would second everything that MarkV said above.

Also, you can keep track of wins and losses from each strategy separately. It is possible to do this using triggers: the triggers will calculate your projected profit or liability and add that up at the end of each event, only taking into account profits/losses from the corresponding strategy and ignoring the other one. See the following article for more details:
