Selection variables and in play delay
« on: 09 Oct 2014, 22:14 »
I was wondering how betfair's in play delay (e.g. for a major soccer match) works with certain MFPro selection variables.

Imagine my only previously bet was a back at 2 which had been partially matched at that price.  Then, my trigger fires in play to place a back bet at odds of 1.5.

What value would bu_backp and bm_backp have for the few seconds of in play delay?

Any help greatly appreciated.

Hi
Unmatched bets are cancelled by Betfair at the suspension. When I tested it in Time Machine, the unmatched bets reverted to 0.00 during the suspension due to being cancelled. If you do something similar as shown in the attached screenshot, you should be able to see for yourself. I am viewing the last two bu_backp and last two bm_backp and had one matched and one unmatched bet. At the moment of the suspension the bu_ 's became 0.00.

Hope this helps

Hi Mark

I think we might be at cross purposes.  I am thinking about the in play delay after hitting "place bets" on betfair, when you would get the "please wait whilst your bets are placed".

I'm not worried about suspensions for goals.  I just want my trigger to be able to compute when the "please wait whilst your bets are placed" delay has ended, and the bet it has placed has landed.

Having thought about it some more, my idea is to use bu_backnum and bm_backnum to count my number of bets.  So what I am asking is whether a bet would be counted for the purposes of bu_backnum if it was in the "please wait whilst your bets are placed" period?

I will try to write something to check, but if someone knows the answer it would save me some time.

Thanks
O

The answer, based on a quick test, is that a bet is not counted for bu_backnum purposes, until the in play delay has expired and the bet lands.  Shouldn't have bothered you Mark.
