  • Hi

I have seen that the selection variable: volume will return that selections volume as a % of the market total traded volume

and voldif_{minutes} would return the currency difference over the history

would there be any way to calculate the % over the history?

for example, if a selection made up 10% of the traded volume 20 minutes ago etc

    thanks, Gary

  • Unfortunately it doesn't have such variable.
By the way what do you need this one for?
I mean the "% diff" figure is quite irrelevant to the real situation on the market because it could be negative and that fact doesn't give you any information about the flow...

  • I was going to use it to gauge how the selection was attracting money compared to the rest of the selections in the market.

so to say if it goes from 10% of the markets volume to 20% then you know it is being well supported

  • maybe 'supported' is the wrong word but you could use it in combination with any price moves to see a confidence in those moves

  • Here is a trigger calculating the diff.
Set vdm trigger constant to number of minutes to calculate the diff for and you'll get the value in volDiffPerc selection's trigger variable (in %) in vdm minutes (!)

  • fantastic, many thanks Tim

I'll have a play with that
