What about a competition/contest
« on: 13 Mar 2015, 10:02 »
How about a trigger contest - fully automatic triggers!
No tipster files no manually green up. Maybe there could be different categories depending on how the trigger works or money management (level stakes, recoup, trading etc).

Yes, we've got one years ago.
Probably it's time to start another one...
Any suggestions for the rules, prize, etc.?

I read the previous rules, it said that the trigger should not be protected. I believe if we want serious triggers, they would need to be protected. Maybe there should be some type of qualification of the trigger (profit, efficiency, ROI or something else)?

I know it's only a bit of fun to have a competition like the one run years ago that Tim linked to, but I can see an easy way to win it if it's run over a short time period.

Laying every 1000 to 1 shot over a few days will almost certainly produce a 100% strike rate and romp home in the competition.  Yet everyone knows that long term that strategy only ends in utter failure, but short term it will produce skewed results.

I agree, therefore the rules must be developed to prevent that kind of triggers to qualify. If you would use the ROI-value, then every trigger only laying high odds will be gone!

I suggest only one trigger per participator would be allowed.

Hi,

I just wonder how practical it will be to orchestrate such a contest.

Will it be run on real money or on test? If its on test then lays might not get matched that would be matched on real.

If its on real, would people really have time and money to concentrate on one trigger all day every day.

Its a good idea to some sort of competition, it might not be practical and you might find it hard to get enough entrants. In general I am in favour, just don't see how it could work.

UPDATE
Having read the previous competition rules and results etc, I have kind of changed my mind. I have 2 or 3 triggers I want to compete in any competition. I'm IN

Great :)

I am hoping that the rules will be improved a bit, but I think the old rules is a good start!

This type of competition can definitely motivate us to refine and develop better triggers. If the winning trigger or some of the top triggers seems decent maybe I would like to "rent it". ;)

Good job it wasnt today then, just seen the winner in Dundalk matched at 1000/1 for a pound and it won. ;)

Interesting.

How many times per week does a horse trading at 1000/1 go on to win a race ?

Anyone got stats ?

Cheers,

How about a lifetime subscription to Time Machine as the prize.  Now that would be an amazing prize for one lucky winner!

Of course, even both of them. But we can't offer the data for free as you understand...
