Betfair down again after problems yesterday.  Thier twitter feed states it is due to a DDOS attack that is stopping all traffic.  https://twitter.com/betfairhelpdesk

This is causing me all sorts of problems

Is there a way to check if the API is not responding as I am getting duplicate bets placed!

I check the selections unmatched and matched bets parameter is equal to 0 but this returning true instead of false when the API is down or not responding. Looks like it is down for short periods, although I am unsure how the bet gets placed if the API is down?

Is there a better way to check for a matched or unmatched bet on the selection

Or is it a case of give up for today?

I know Betfair have had DDOS attacks in the past perhaps this one is the most severe to date.

I can't even log in to MFPro with the mini browser.  They need to institute major changes to prevent these attacks or they will be out of business soon.   You won't be able to place any bets if the API is down, so I would give up for the day.

This is really annoying!

I agree there should be a way for marketfeeder to check for connection problems and hold fire on all bets or go into test mode or something.

I mean the software can do nothing (cancel bets for example) if it can't reach BetFair API.

hmmm.. well maybe a global header message in the application if the API is down. At least users would be alerted of a problem quicker.

"mean the software can do nothing (cancel bets for example) if it can't reach BetFair API."

This is I assume a rare case, normally with a service it is working then it stops working and then at a later time (once the technical bods have fixed the problem) the site is back up.

In this scenario from the logs and I assume because it is a DDOS attack some calls are getting through and some are not. This is leading to erratic betting (I am getting duplicate bets)

What is the best way to avoid this? A message is OK but my bot runs unattended so I only notice from time to time.

Can you trigger on connection parameter? Say if response time is less than x stop betting?

Or is there another method?

Open to any solutions!
