Choose markets to start/stop
« on: 04 Aug 2019, 22:37 »
Hello

I usually add win and place markets from UK and IRL for one day...refreshing only 2 markets at the same time in settings...

What should I check under "choose markets to start/stop" to avoid interfering refreshing from races that finished and races that will start or have already started ?

When I check "all markets" and then start markets, everything works fine if there is quick result and settle after race...but often happens that place market needs a longer time for result, so I get only win market from next race active and refreshing....

Thanks

Hi
instead of using limit number of simultaneously refreshed events, why not use the monitoring setting:
start monitoring events at xx mins before the beginning

and then in general options settings:
delete settled events automatically
and use: delete all except yy most recent markets

this way the monitoring will be automatic and only settled markets in excess of yy most recently settled will drop off the list

Thx MarkV

I use "limit number of simultaneously refreshed events to 2 markets", "start monitoring events at 0 mins before the beginning" and "delete finished events automatically", without "delete all except yy most recent markets"

Maybe I am wrong, but "finished" status comes right after the race end, before "settled"....

Hi
You are correct, finished status is when Betfair declare the event is finished and this comes before the event is settled by Betfair. I think your problem comes where markets are not yet settled but overlap new markets that are starting.

You have not said how you are betting, but as an example, if you are betting in-play and want the market settled before betting in the next market, I would suggest your settings should be something like this. You can try in test mode to see if it does what you want:

general options > delete settled events automatically > and delete all except 8 most recent markets
monitoring options > start monitoring at 1 min before > idle refresh 1.00 > in-play refresh 0.5
limit number of simultaneously refreshed events to 12

this should cover a few markets being settled late

Update... no more problems with start/stop markets...

Another thing that bothers me is refresh rate...I bet only on UK win and place races in-play, with default refresh rate in settings 0,2 sec in-play, and number of simultaneously refreshed events is limited to 2...

Although I am on BetVPS, yesterday refresh rates were very volatile, from 0,2 sec to 2 seconds...resulting in some bad triggering...Luckily, it happened in test mode...

Are there some settings in MarketFeeder or VPS windows that could ensure a less volatile refresh rates ? A couple days ago it was much better situation with refres rates from 0,2 sec to 0,5 sec...

Refresh rates may vary from day to day and even from hour to hour, due to multiple reasons, such as the performance of BF server, the number of users currently on the exchange, the quality of the Internet connection, etc. This can even be affected by the number of selections in the market.
