Data Usage
« on: 01 Feb 2016, 15:31 »
Yes the old chestnut sorry,
Hi, I have noticed lots of mentions of Betfair closing accounts for the over use of data I think. I use MarketFeeder Pro every day, and I always place real bets with it. These bets may be small but are always over the £2 Betfair minimum, so is my account likely to flag up for their attention? I am using two separate MarketFeeder Pro triggers one on horse racing and one on football. I do not use any back dated data from Betfair just trade on racing live markets and football live games, I did read the Betfair statement that was posted on this forum by the administrators that just confused me more.

Hi Mike

As I understand it, since the new api was introduced the cap on requests has been lifted, so you can refresh at 0.3 secs to your hearts content.  Obviously I'll give the disclaimer that it's just my understanding, but I refresh many markets at that rate and haven't had data charges invoked since the new api was introduced. (I came a cropper a few times previously!)

Hi
Since the introduction of Betfair's new API last year, Betfair have lifted the data request limit, and that has been reflected in the updates to the software Connection Monitor. The only thing you need to keep an eye on will be transactions (bets) per hour, which is 1000/hr after which you may incur a charge, and there is a setting in the Connection Monitor for that.

As for the rest, if as you say you do not consistently bet below the minimum, and use real money from time-to-time, you will be fine.

Betfair would rightly query someone who, for example, uses test mode to collect data from their servers and never pays any commission for that service.

I don't think you have anything to worry about.
Please read the following disclaimer with regards to the information you may request and obtain on our forum. This specifically concerns trigger files and various instructions as to how to implement a strategy.

Please note, BetFair is seems to be currently OFFLINE
