This should help to explain things:

I've tried uninstalling from one PC.  Then I tried to reinstall (7.0.0.47).
    Got this avast message:

avast! File System Shield has blocked a threat.  No further action is required>
    Object: C:\Program Files\...\lang.dll
    Infection: Win32:Evo-gen [Susp]

  • Like I say, I'm back up and running with an uninstall and a reinstall.  My antivirus is Avast, and that has in the past sandboxed mfp installers and flagged them up as suspicious.

  • Oh yes, that explains everything, looks like a false alarm from avast - have read about similar cases with other innocent software on related forums. You could add MF Pro to exceptions then, and that should fix it. Thanks for sharing this problem!

  • Thanks for helping to solve it!  By the way, I tried to download the latest version of MFP during this process, and the link from the website didn't seem to be working.

  • Hi Orzola,

You must have done this when I was updating the setup files, so they were not available at that moment.

We emailed Avast to raise their awareness of the false alarm, but it may take a while before they react.
