Imported Selections
« on: 06 Jan 2014, 20:54 »
I read with interest MarkV 's recent posting in another thread about the ability in the latest version of V7 to import selections with associated variables from a tab separated file.

Having read the post, then the manual, I tired it.  It seemed to work when one selection from each race is imported and active but when I introduce the expression #all_active# at the end of the file,  and start monitoring the race,  a bet goes in for every selection.

The trigger is a test, action back,  'all matching selections' with one condition:

back price is greater than imported_1.

I hoped it would only back selections with this trigger if there name was listed in the txt file but obviously not.

Am I missing something?

Hi
I shall test this as soon as I have MFP back from the memory test for the other post.
Have you tried the condition the other way round?
selections trigger expression imported_1 is less than back_price

Thanks for the suggestion.

Using:

back price is between 1 and imported_1

works as a no value must count as zero.

Hi
Actually, I had the same problem as you, but worked around it using a second condition with a second value as per attached example.

I think you are right.

Alfaman, if a selection is not mentioned in the file, its variables starting with imported_ will all be equal to zero.

Are there any limitations on the imported selections from a .txt file?  I am getting only partial success if the file is massive (ie 17000+ rows)?

(I am not expecting to get a match on every one, as there are not that many running, but I had hoped it would match all those that are running that day.)

Also the #all_active# insertion at the end of the file does not always seem to bring every selection into play - has anyone else found this and learned any tricks/querks?

Thanks

I will look into this and re-check this function with extra large files.
