no variable values displayed for markets not yet monitored v.41 plus

hi
with v.39 and earlier i could monitor the variable values in the variable screen and look at a market yet to be monitored.
now with v.41 and more all i get is unknown variable scope (in red) when i look at variables whilst looking at a market that is waiting to be monitored.
there are values if i look at markets that have been and are been monitored.
