Reducing Betfair requests in vers 7 test mode
« on: 15 Jun 2013, 07:53 »
Hi Everyone

In vers 6 when running in test mode it was possible to have the amount of requests when idling to average only 0.3 per sec according to the connection monitor.  This was achievable by not monitoring the live account statement, and not having the live bets monitored.  In ver 7 however, the lowest I can achieve according to the connection monitor is 1.5 requests per sec.

I've set the test version to not refresh the account statement and not retrieve bets from either the UK or the Australian wallets on the general options page of the settings, yet still when idling its sending 1.5 requests per sec compared to only 0.3 with the same settings in vers 6.

With these settings Vers 7 still displays the main live account balance and updates it, so I'm guessing that's where the extra requests are coming from, but I'm at a loss how to disable this in test mode on vers 7.

I appreciate its not much of a difference, but when you run a number of versions of the program at the same time as I do with my different trigger and variable needs, then saving betfair requests wherever I can is necessary.

Thanks if anyone has a solution

Hi
V6 Connection Monitor was not accurate and did not include all requests.
Although I have a few things switched on, if I have no markets loaded I get a constant average of 2.08 RPS. There has to be some comms to Betfair even to maintain the connection that you are logged in, market list etc.
In addition to the items you mentioned, you can check:
get prices on market's loading
update wallets
retrieve all price offers
update list of bets setting
download match score
download silks

Retrieve all price offers is a huge drain on resources - make sure it is unticked.

Thanks for that info and suggestions MarkV & rubold, I'll give those things a try.  It does seem strange that you can't disable the available real funds anymore in test mode ie even in test mode the real wallet money is displayed in the top left corner, and it updates regularly too, despite having refresh account statement and retrieve bet lists unticked.  This surely adds something to the requests.

Hi
The setting for this is:
Update main wallet every 15 seconds (default setting)

I just tried to set it at 1 second and avg requests shot up because these requests are weighted 5.

If you don't use variables uk_funds, balance etc. I think you can try this setting at say 120 seconds?

Thanks Mark, I've adjusted this right down as I don't use any variables that relate to it.

By the way, are there any issues if I set this to every 1 second?

in the connection monitor, you should not set the request limit below 6.00.
in the settings
general options set the main wallets that you use to not less than 3 secs
your statement is best set to 2 secs
