Trigger falls asleep
« on: 18 Oct 2013, 08:17 »
hi,
my trigger has a habit of falling asleep. Often I notice it
hasn't placed a (test mode) bet for several races and to
remedy that I press the 'reload' button and it does its
thing and immediately places a bet. I've tried closing MFP and
starting it again and it works for a couple of hours or so and then
nods off again.
Does anyone know why this happens ?

Hi
If you check the trigger logs at the point in time where it stops working, or later, it should give you some idea.
Otherwise if you post your trigger file, I will test it.

hi
there are a few reasons for this.
the main reasons are profit/loss limits been reached that you have set in your triggers or that you have set in the settings of the bot.
so when you restart the triggers all profit/loss figures are reset, so the triggers go until the limit is reached again.

Thanks guys,
I'll have a look at this over the weekend. I'll have a bit more
time then.

Mark & mcbee,

All seems to be fine now after not doing anything.
It seemed to be off colour for a day but righted itself
I also had a problem yesterday with bets not being automatically settled
over several hours for US and RSA tracks but I think that may have been a Befair issue
as all okay again.
Thanks

A lot of my working triggers are now not working, due to random failure of the Betfair results service ie. no settled p/l figures available.  This is a serious problem.  I have had to redesign a number of triggers to find the winner by the last traded price on event suspension and calculate p/l using that.  This works OK for horse racing where in-play markets are available, but no use for Greyhounds and not very good for football where the market is frequently suspended.

Thanks rubold, we are singing from the same hymn sheet.
It was a Betfair problem by the sounds of it.
Today it has worked perfectly, so may have been rectified !

Please note, BetFair is seems to be currently OFFLINE
