Windows 10 update crashing Marketfeeder
« on: 01 Jan 2016, 10:28 »
Hi

a couple of days ago my main MFP machine had a windows 10 upgrade and after that stopped working each time I tried to start it up.

I uninstalled the program, deleted all the profiles and other stuff, reinstalled several times into different folders etc all with no improvement each time I start up MFP it does not even make it to loading the html login screen but just puts up a window saying Marketfeeder has stopped working.

I started to use my second laptop whilst trying to sort this out, it too had the upgrade last night and now I have the same problem so I am pretty sure it is this upgrade now. Is anyone else experiencing this and have you found the setting that needs to be changed to allow it to work. I am loathe to just uninstall the update as that can cause other problems.

For now i am happy that I had one machine that for what ever reason will not accept the windows 10 upgrade so can carry on on Windows 7 but I am down to my last machine now!!!

Yes, it seems the latest IE (Flash) update for Windows 10 causes the crash.
We do all our best to fix the problem.
If you desperate to run MF pro please uninstall the update.

I'm having the exact same problem, and yes it is the Windows update that caused it. I uninstalled and Market Feeder Pro worked, but then a few hours later it won't because Windows update has gone and installed it again. Any idea how long a fix might take?

They said on the update page:

We are aware of limited application crashes that occur after this security update is installed on Windows 10.
Microsoft is researching this problem with Adobe and will post more information in this article when the information becomes available.

I see a lot of apps stopped working after the update reported. So hopefully Microsoft will fix it soon.
Meanwhile we are preparing a MF version without browser. So anybody who doesn't use interactive log in will be able to use the software.
Thank you for your patience.

Hi all!

We've built a temporary solution that will let the users of Windows 10 with the latest update at least launch MF Pro until we've found a better solution. This will bypass the browser and leave with the option to log in using the form only. Obviously the latest update has disrupted the code of the third-party browser we are using in MF Pro.
Please let me know if you can't launch it either.

The download link to this version is the following:

Another temporary (or not) solution if you need the interactive login page.

Open Internet Explorer (NOT EDGE!), click "Options" (gear) icon at the right top corner, then "Safety" and enable "ActiveX filtering".

Then open MarketFeeder.
The "ActiveX filtering" option doesn't affect Edge options, so you'll be able to see flash with Edge (not with IE).

Windows 10 installed a different version of the IE Flash update on my machine today (KB3133431 rather than  KB3132372 that had been causing the crashes), and MF Pro now seems to open OK, without needing to enable ActiveX filtering.
