Allowable betting below £2 minimum.
« on: 24 Feb 2012, 16:54 »
Hi,

One suggestion to effectively bet below the minimum was to, for example, back £[email protected] and lay £[email protected] creating a margin.

Is it possible to back in between these odds ie back £[email protected] then immediately laying £[email protected] (possibly matching yourself) then having any unmatched amounts adjusted so they match at either 3.98 or 4.02 before the round ends.

Getting any bets matched at that price would reduce the margin and should be allowable by Betfair.

Can you advise how I could set this up to bet between any 2 prices which have one or mores different sized ticks in between.

Was thinking of initially backing at (current best) + 1 tick then then laying at (best to match) but unsure how to bet at one tick higher than the current best and how to then ensure all bets are matched before the round ends.

Many Thanks.

The prices on the games exchange are fixed by Betfair according to the chances of the selection winning or losing,  This is all worked out mathematically before the round starts.  As a result of this, it is almost impossible to get a back bet matched 1 tick higher than the available price, or 1 tick lower for a lay bet.

Thanks for the reply Rubold.

I understand what you are saying but if I can back, for example at £2 at 4.0 then quickly lay £2.50 at 4.0 then I can get round the minimum bet requirement and have just the remaining 50p matched at 4.02 which gives a lower liability than just using prices of 3.98 and 4.02.

I am offering a better price than betfair is willing to, ie initially I am allowing someone to lay at 4.00 as opposed to 4.02 albeit for only £2 but would be just as happy to match the bet myself and then match the balance of 50p at 4.02 to reduce the margin.

Hope this makes sense.

Nice idea you have there cochise. I just hope that this would at least be considered or given a though.
