spread loss - max liability condition ?
« on: 05 Oct 2015, 15:16 »
hello,

i was wondering if someone could help me understanding and mastering the "spread-loss" function in the Trigger. My questions is:

a) what is the correct condition for the "spread loss" ?

b) what can i add into the condition box so that the max liability of the "spread loss" is limited to a max liability, e.g. 50

c) to my knowledge, the spread loss function "equalizes" a bet so that the outcome is Zero

e.g.
lay 10 @ 3.5 would have a spread-loss back bet of
back 5 @ 5

is that correct ? if yes, then what condition would i have to enter so that the spread loss equaliziation is not Zero but e.g. - 2 (or more generally, to accept a loss of e.g. 25%)

would be great if someone could help me with the questions and make me understand the spread-loss Trigger better....

many thanks!

Hi joecappi,

Basically spread-loss is a back bet that eliminates negative P/L on a chosen selection, by increasing the potential loss on all other selections. In your example:

Quote
lay 10 @ 3.5 would have a spread-loss back bet of

the back bet, provided the price is 5.0, would be 6.25, as that is the amount needed to cover the liability of 10*(3.5 - 1):

6.25*(5.0 - 1) = 10*(3.5 - 1) = 25.

Quote
a) what is the correct condition for the "spread loss" ?

There must be a negative P/L on the selection.

You would need to execute a usual back trigger, as the spread-loss is for zero loss only. The amount of the bet would be calculated as:

back amount = -profit_loss*(100-perc)/(100*(back_price-1))

where perc is the percentage of loss you want to leave on the selection, and profit_loss is the trigger variable for the selection's P/L.

So if you have a loss of -100 GBP, and you want to accept 25% of loss, then for a back price of, say, 5.0 this formula would give you:

back amount = 100*(100 - 25)/(100*(5.0 - 1)) = 18.75 GBP.

Hello Oxa,

many thanks for your detailed Explanation!

For some further clarification:

Your write:

Quote
Basically spread-loss is a back bet that eliminates negative P/L on a chosen selection, by increasing the potential loss on all other selections.

As far as i have seen from my experimenting, the spread-loss function places a back bet on the SAME HAND as the loosing lay bet.
Therefore i am a bit confused if you say "by increasing the potential loss on all other selections"

Would you give an example for better understanding ?

Also to my question
Quote
a) what is the correct condition for the "spread loss" ?

you wrote: "There must be a negative P/L on the selection."

Does that mean that i normally use the spread loss function without putting anything into the condition box ? is that correct ?

many thanks for your help, you have a great Piece of Software there !

That only applies to a win market, i.e. where there is only one winning place. If you place a back bet on one selection, the P/L of all other selection will shift into the red.

Just add a simple condition:

Selection's Profit/Loss is less than 0

Thank you!

Thank you very much Oxa !!

BTW, i saw on YouTube a video about a Hi-Lo trigger that looks very interesting, however, I could not get in touch with the guy who made it. His name is:

Алексей Мелехов  (he has Skype "melehov777" but is never online)

do you know him ? he gives the x-Feeder[dot]ru/about   site as a reference... so i thought maybe he is acquainted with you..

the Video i am referring to is here:
YouTube[dot]com/watch?v=tYnaMn72Mbc

I just would like to get in touch with the Person and get to know where i can get the Trigger he is using...

thanks again!
