Laying trigger help required.
« on: 14 Aug 2010, 23:01 »
Hi all I'm hoping someone can help me create a trigger,

That backs the first 2 most supported horses by betting volume.
Lays the 2 most unsupported horses between 15 to 40-1 by betting volume.
In a race with 10 or more runners.
20 secs before start.
In a market with over 20K total market volume.

Cheers.

Hi betsmart,

I was just developing something similar, also based on volume.

Try the following! First create 3 custom cells (Settings/Excel):

1.) Cell Address: S15:1   Cell Value: volume
2.) Cell Address: S16:1   Cell Value: =RANK(O(sel_index*3+1),O4:O100,0)
3.) Cell Address: S17:1   Cell Value: =RANK(O(sel_index*3+1),O4:O100,1)

That means you have to connect MFPro to Excel to make this trigger work.

Then just open the enclosed trigger and it might do the job.

I haven't tested it. Please give me your feed back.

Cheers,

Thanks bamthwok, followed instructions , creating custom cells then connected MFpro to Excel but it didn't seem to want to place a bet in test mode.
Any thoughts?

Cheers Bet.

Hi Betsmart,

If you look at your Excel sheets, can you see any values in Row O, P and Q?

Hi Bamthwok, thanks for your help, today it seems to back the 2 most supported horses, but not lay the 2 most unsupported.
In Rows O,P,Q some markets have nothing others have 0,1,1

Hi betsmart,

I'm not sure what is going wrong at your side. I tried my trigger here at home and it works. Lay trigger only fires occasionally because of the specified lay odds.

For testing purposes you can change the condition, for example LAY if LAY price is < 100.

In Row O you should see the volume percentage of each runner. In Row P you should see the ranking of the volume. Highest percentage got number 1, second highest number 2 etc and in Row Q you should see volume rankings  from low to high (lowest volume got number 1).

Of course this works only in markets where there is already money on the runners.

Make sure monitoring is on. Maybe try UK horse racing.

If it still does not work, please send me a screenshot of the excel sheet of a typical market you want to bet on.

Cheers,
bamthwok

P.S.: I assume you run English version of Excel???

Hi Bamthwok, seems to be all working fine now, but your right the lay side rarely fires due to price being outside the range, is their anyway I can place a lay bet on the 2 worst selections not over 40-1? I think you can probably see what I'm trying to do , if either of the 2 favourites don't win or the 2 long shots don't win it becomes a neutral bet.

Hi Betsmart,

Of course you can adjust the lay price limit and allow for runner upto 60-1 for instance.

But I would accept that the lay trigger fires only occasionally.

Personally, I would try to modify the back part as the two most supported horses are usually the two horses with the shortest odds. This alone does not seem of much value to me.

Cheers,
bamthwok
