Please move it to the cloud.

So much downtime for such a critical piece of hardware is unacceptable.

It's database server - kind of difficult to have multiply instances.
But you are right - it's unacceptable.

Not sure if it's SQL DB .. but you can move to the cloud
http://azure.microsoft.com/en-us/services/sql-database/

Even if the DB is MySQL I am sure it can be run in the cloud.
