  • No problem Oxa.

It looks like you can actually go down to 10p.

It seems there's a sliding scale, the lowest amounts that are accepted are...
    1.02 and below - 80p
    1.03 - 70p
    1.04 - 20p
    1.10 and above - 10p

You can't change a bet to below 10p at any odds.

I've tried to create a trigger to carry out the (now old) method of setting a low bet, but it seems you can't trigger to cancel a portion of a bet, is that right? If that's the case, I'll go down the compensatory back bet route for now.

  • 80p stake or 80p liability?

I've heard that if you set the lay to 1.1 instead of 1.01 to get the small bet it works.  I think that's what Bet Angel did to fix theirs.

  • Hi,

Is this working yet? If not is there going to be a workaround or fix in a new software update?

My trigger doesn't do any backing or laying anything under 20p.

    Thanks,

    Whitey

  • I have never understood why Betfair rules insist that the minimum back bet liability is £2, but the minimum lay stake is also £2 - it should  be a minimum liability.  It makes the exchange system unbalanced, thus causing punters to break the rules.

  • Exactly, i lay small stakes for the bigger prices, 10p on 100-1 shot is a ten pound liability

  • they have updated the announcement on the api forum to explain what they have done, i havent got a clue what it means

We're preparing a release right now. Will post in Announcements.

  • HI thanks for that, what happens if the back odds are well below the lay odds as they are early in the morning for example, i lay at 100 for 20p but the back odds are only 40

How would you lay at 100 if the back odds are 40?

  • If you look at thirsk 12-15 today, just an example glitterbox girl to back is 46 but to lay 150 at the moment, the process looks good but is it only going to work about an hour before the off when prices on both sides are similar

  • Right, I was a bit slow.

See what will happen in a similar situation:

  • Hi Oxa,

Thank you for looking into this so promptly.

For me personally, I'd rather use the same method for laying small amounts as what is currently programmed into MFP Pro, except that instead of changing the price to 1.01 and then changing the amount, we go to 1.10 and then change the amount. Disregarding anything below 10p. I never get down to such low odds and it's rare that my trigger will want to lay less than 10p.

Is it possible to have either laying via 1.10 or the compensatory back bet as options under "Allow small bets"?

  • I've done some more testing and Betfair's lowest amounts for the low prices are still the same as I found on Saturday...

    1.01 - 80p
    1.02 - 80p
    1.03 - 70p
    1.04 - 20p
    1.05 - 17p
    1.06 - 14p
    1.07 - 13p
    1.08 - 12p
    1.09 - 11p
    1.10 and above - 10p

I too would prefer this option laying at 1.1 (instead of 1.01) with no back bets involved - eventually this is just going eat into profits and we will have to deal with unmatched bets too.

An option in the settings would be best I think so the user can choose which one they would rather do.

    Thanks,
