  • (UPDATE - This first post has now been superseded by information further on in the discussion.  Recent microsoft updates to internet explorer 11 have caused an issue with mfp that crashes it when it starts to load markets from the market locator. Other people have reported other issues, but so far this problem is the only one that has a solution identified, which is to roll back the installation of these updates)

    Hi Everyone

I'm just posting this for information purposes, in case anybody has the same problem and stumbles across this thread.

After the most recent windows update in early September (windows 7 64bit), MFP started crashing sometimes on loading markets.  It wasn't every time, and often simply restarting it would solve the issue, but sometimes I had to reboot the computer to get things sorted and it was a real pain.

After lots of experimenting with reinstalls, new profiles and new market locators, none of which solved the problem, I found the solution.  I ran sfc /scannow from a command prompt which is a low level system file checker (search for it and you'll find instructions how to run it)  This scan found some corrupted sysytem dll files, which it repaired.  Since then MFP has behaved impeccably.

Hope that helps anyone who has a similar issue in the future.

  • Hi Larp

I'm not sure what file is / was causing my issues as my crashes always quit to the desktop without giving any extra info.  A pop up would come up saying mfp was unresponsive, and clicking ok on this (the only option in the pop up was an ok button) would then quit to the desktop.  There is further discussion on this in another recent thread

    http://community.welldonesoft.com/troubleshooting-8/feedre-exe-crash/msg32911/?topicseen#msg32911

From my experience, a windows update that happened on 10 september has somehow affected MFP.  I am slowly going through the updates one at a time (there where 13 in total) to see which is the rogue one.  So far I have installed all the .net updates and the windows defender update and everything is ok.  I've got 8 more to check.

  • Hi,

    Ty Armani,

I had to get a new hdd and reinstall windows, so all the updates were included, I really have no clue as to which could be causing trouble.

I did notice the pictured file working away when it was never there before the updates. I have no idea what it does, but I will stop it anyway tomorrow and see what happens,

    Regards

  • Well I've finally worked out which update was causing the problem with my system (windows 7 64 bit professional edition)

it was a security update for internet explorer 11 (KB2977629).  If I install this update then mfp often hangs on loading on my sysytem. (I've chosen now to ignore this update as I never use internet explorer anyway)

  • Glad I could help. As you've experienced first hand, it was an incredibly frustrating problem and there seemed to be no ryhme or reason as to what was happening. I have no idea what in that particular update was problematic, but for those of us effected, we just need to remember to avoid any future internet explorer updates from Microsoft.

Spot on. That's the reason why I have auto updates disabled. Things like that always come around usually after a Windows update.

  • Just had another crash this afternoon >:(  The only update I have done today was Windows Defender update KB915597.

Have you guys updated this and if so has it caused any issues?

    Thanks

  • For sure the the problem is not coming just from the update that armani pointed. I have made all those steps to stop this error but it still there....

  • This months large collection of windows updates (18 for my system) did make my problem reoccur, but I noticed after installing them that there was another update for internet explorer 11.  The previous months update for ie11 had caused my problem, so I rolled back the new updates, deselected the new ie11 one and then reinstalled all the others.  This resolved my own problem.

Maybe neilbom if your issue is the same as mine you might want to check if the most recent set of windows updates included an internet explorer 11 one.  I don't personally get any issues with windows defender updates at the moment.

  • Hello mate.

I have already disable the updates after i uninstalled the update you have mentioned, so i think the problem causing the error is something else.

  • Hi mates

I can atm confir the internet explorer 11 updates are causing problems to few programs and Market feeder is one of them.

Till now this updates are to avoid at any cost.

    KB2987107
    KB2977629

You can unistall them if they already are in your system and when info of new updates come place this ones in hide updates list.

Is better to, not let windows install updates alone, and maybe is good idea avoid any update for internet explorer 11

Oxa and Tim, maybe is good idea you see why this kind of updates destroy your instances of mfp, and if it will be possible create a protection (correction) for that.

Have a nice Sunday all :)
